How long does the super fertile period last after birth?

Hi - hoping for some mumsnet wisdom! I'm 30 with low amh (known low egg count/my eggs are running out). I have a 9 month old who I breast feed and I'd love another baby. But I'm in a dilemma, as I know I probably only have a year or so left of eggs, is it better to stop breast
feeding now to try for another baby in the hope id still be in the very fertile period after birth? Or are you just super fertile once you stop breastfeeding so it wouldnt matter when you try again? Ideally id like to stop breastfeeding when hes around 1, but want another baby more! At the same time such a close age gap scares me a bit as it must be exhausting!

There is no scientific evidence that women are more fertile after birth. Breastfeeding can surpress ovulation but if you are having periods it is not surpressing ovulation.

Everyone is different. My periods came back after a couple months and I breastfed. When we decided to try for a second I was still breastfeeding at 11 months. We got pregnant first try and we have 20 month gap. Hard initially. But now at 5 and 6 they play so nicely together 😀

Thanks - sorry important to add my periods haven't come back yet - so wondering if I should wean him early so that they do in the hope I'm more fertile? Would love to hear others experiences

I fell pregnant whilst breastfeeding (no periods). 16 month age gap.

Well if your periods are not back then yes you need to stop feeding and get them back for a start as then you'll be ovulating. 9 months is a good stretch. If you want another baby and have limited ovarian reserve then I'd crack on tbh.

Me too, 13 month gap

If you want to conceive then stopping breastfeeding will be the first step but there is no evidence you will be any more fertile than before you were pregnant with your baby.
