Hi Ladies,
This is my first EVER post, (although ive been reading posts for a few months now) After reading lots of posts I have found it is really helpful to read others experiences and gives you an insight of what may be to come..

I am very fortunate to have been accepted on the NHS for 2 rounds of IVF treatment.
Im 31 and had an eptopic pregnancy when I was 18, I was always told that I would need to be closesly monitored should I ever get pregnant again. (IVF would be less risky than IUI due to my previous eptopic).
Turns out I married a woman (same sex relationship) who has two beautiful daughters, however, after being together nearly 10 years and my body clock working away, we thought it is best to start the process before im tooo old :)
After a veeeeerrrrrrrry long wait following our initial appointment with a consutant, (nearly 2 years) Suprecur injections started daily in the evening. These wern't as bad as I thought, althought it is daunting, the thought of doing it yourself and how it may affect your body and moods.
(I found this ok, quite emotional after about a week)
I continued the suprecur for 14 days then went for a scan to make sure my womb lining was thin etc... The scan shown a cycst had developed (which can be a side effect of the suprecur). I was told to continue the suprecur injections, but to increase to one in the morning and one in the evening daily for a week, with the aim of reducing the cyst in my ovary, as this is the area where they would need grow the eggs and follicles. 1 week later I returned for another scan, to be told it has grown in size and that I would need to stop the IVF medication and take the contreceptive pill for 3 months!!!

This felt like a kick in the stomach after such a long wait to start the treatment and then 2 weeks in be told to STOP and go on the contreceptive pill!!!!!!
I was sent home and advised I would recieve a call within a few weeks to book another treatment plan, but this would be after the clinicians have had a meeting to discuss my case moving forward.

So, Im on day 15 of my contrecptive pill and only recieved a call today to arrange treatment plan which will be 8th Jan 2019. I was also advised that after the clinicians discussion, they have decided that I would be changed from Long Protocol to SHORT as I am sensitive to the medication and they wouldnt want me to develop OHSS.
Im not sure exactly what this means medication wise, as I read online (I know we shouldnt) but still, there are so many different medications / ways they can do it on the short protocol, it all depeds on YOU and your situation. It is tailored to YOU specifically.

Again, Its going to be a bit of a waiting game again as they aim to start the next treatment in February.
Im going to enjoy Christmas, stuff my face and maybe even have a couple of glasses of wine.. I'd much rather not and have the BFP that I was hoping to get to by now :(

Hopefully the short protocol will suit me better and we will have the results we wish for.

Best wishes all.

Nikki xx
