My doc put me on the mini pill mid sept but found out that it contain lactose, I had the implant put in on 1st Oct. I have been on my period for over 2mths and the doc put me bk on the mini pill for 3mths a couple of weeks ago, with meds to counteract the lactose. The problem I am finding is that my period is now worse, it is much heavier and I can no longer go overnight without protection, should I stop them and see how it goes or carry on with them, anyone else had this problem.

Are you on the pill alongside the implant or did they remove the implant?

Sounds awful.

General advice is to give it 3-6months but not sure I could put up with that for any longer!

There’s very little chance putting you on a mini pill alongside an implant is going to help in any way, a combined pill yes possibly but not a mini pill in fact it can make it worse, in your case it has. With the progesterone methods mini pill and implants typically a third of women will stop bleeding a third will have regular bleeds and a third will have irregular bleeding, you don’t have to put up with it, we usually advice keeping it for three months but if it’s bad I wouldn’t hesitate in taking it out, get it out and try somethings else,
