Hi All,

I’ve been on the Evra patch for nearly 6 years and was wondering if some of you can share your experiences of being on the patch for so long & what effects it had on you when you were trying to conceive. I have a daughter who is 6, when she was born I went on the patch. I came off it around June/July this year and wanted to know if any of you can please share your experiences with the Evra patch

I was on the patch for 2 years, when I stopped periods stayed regular and conceived first month of trying. Unfortunately that pregnancy didn't work out but only took another 4 months to get pregnant again. Good luck X

Thanks for sharing your experience and sorry to hear what you went through.
At the moment I’m not in a rush to try for another but its just that the things I’ve been reading about evra are scaring me abit for when I do want to try.

I was worried that it would take a while when I stopped the patch and I'm not the most patient of people(!) but we've been quite lucky. Good luck X

Thank you for your response. Out of curiosity, how long were you on the patch?

I wasn't aware there would be a delay in regaining fertility after coming off the patch. When I stopped using it I had my first period after six weeks, I then got pregnant. With my second child it took a lot longer to conceive (2 years) but that was due to blocked tubes rather than hormones from the patch. I've just stopped taking the patch now after using it for 18 months as it no longer suiting me (headaches, mood swings to name a few of the side effects I am now getting) so got to chose some other contraception now.

Thanks for sharing.

I wish I had done research before using I 6 years ago. I have no complaints eg weight gain, mood swings or anything. It worked absolutely fine for me. It’s just now when I’m thinking more about trying for a 2nd where I’m reading up about it & how long it’s been taking others after being on the patch.
Before using the patch my periods were always every month but since coming off it’s been all over the place. Had one on 24th September & then last one was 26th October, since then I haven’t had one.

I'm not sure its the patch compared to other hormonal contraception, I think there must be this risk with anything that messes with hormones.
