Consistently light periods

Hi all, I had an IUS (coil) removed about 13 months ago ever since my periods have been very light. Does this mean anything? GP wasn't bothered but once you have a kid they aren't that fussed anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

Are you underweight at all? I lost a good bit of weight and all of a sudden barely any period. Put a stone or so back on and it’s normal again.

I had a Mirena coil until 6 months ago, but I’ve had light periods for pretty much forever, though I was on the pill for a long time. I have about 2 days worth, filling maybe 3 regular tampons in 24 hours on average. So light, but not unreasonably so.

@Ilovealexa I'm a size 10-12 healthy bmi 🤷🏻‍♀️ thank you though
@BuffaloCauliflower I can only use tampons on one day of each cycle as a general rule. I had quite heavy periods before. I had the mirena too x

Can only use because they’re uncomfortable or you’re not filling them? Have you being TTC for 13 months?

impatientmammy · 01/12/2018 01:03

@BuffaloCauliflower they stay to dry so they're uncomfortable coming out 😳
Yeah I have they only do the basic blood tests though because I already have a little boy x

That’s difficult, and yes that is very light. Mine are within the bounds of normality at least, yours do sound very light. I’d keep pushing for more tests x

Mine were about that light. 'Unexplained infertility'. Conceived via ivf after two and a half years ttc on the first cycle (had a 30% chance of success - so very lucky).

impatientmammy · 01/12/2018 10:18

@physicskate did they ever look into the period thing? I have a little boy so not eligible for ivf x

Hi @impatientmammy - I had similar after coming off the implant. My periods suddenly became a lot lighter (used to have 2 heavy days, 1 medium and 2 light) to one medium and 2, occasionally 1 light. The cycles also became irregular varying from 28-46 days! Not sure if it’s the body reacting to the chance in hormones or in my case I gained weight. I went to my dr about it as we were thinking about TTC in the near future and she didn’t seem concerned about it.

No as my lining was always fine on scans.
