Temping

Entering the world of temping and not exactly sure what I'm looking for... I know I need to take my temperature every morning before getting up. I did this this morning (CD4) and got a reading of 35.48 degrees C. I though this seems quite low??

Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what I should be looking out for 😊 any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks X

I’ve just started temping too so hoping to see some helpful comments. I’m CD 5 and all mine have been 36.something so far. I don’t really know what I’m doing but I’m hoping I’ll get the idea soon.

I got low and erratic temps with oral measurements as I sleep with my mouth open. Mine are much better taken vaginally. I warm the thermometer under my thigh for a couple of minutes first while I wait for my snooze alarm to go off.

Hi, your temp Dips in sleep, however it's not the actual temps that are important it's the pattern, so lower temps during AF and leading up to ovulation, the most important bit thought is a sustained temp rise after ovulation. Take first thing in the morning before moving or getting up, same time everyday, agree that vaginal temping gives a better pattern especially if you sleep with your mouth open it'll all make sense after a few cycles, I used fertility friend to track my cycles, good luck

Thanks for the advice! Yes, I've had a look at the fertility friend app. Hopefully I end up seeing some kind of pattern soon.

I use Natural Cycles so it tells me what’s happening, I don’t need to figure it out. It’s made as contraception (which I was using it for) but works well for TTC as well, I’d recommend it. The algorithm is very clever.

@Nell90x I agree with fertility friend being the way to go! There's a helpful subreddit called 'TFABlineporn" of ladies that know a lot about this stuff and can help you interpret your charts. To be fair though, I felt FF together with the 'lessons' they do for you provided me with all I needed to know.

I too had low temps at a similar level to yours and the online analysis of my chart led me to think maybe a thyroid problem. I was within the normal range when my dr tested but right at the lower extremity. I started taking iodine and Maca to boost thyroid function which seemed to help even out my chart. Could be fluke as I only chatted for 4 cycles and had the supplements for 2 before i got pregnant.

Good luck! I found charting a really great insight in to how my body works and a way to feel like I was doing something positive about my (hopefully former) fertility concerns.
