Hi everyone -
Looking for some help and advice
Came off pill March 2017 still no period- have PCOS -
Been referred to hospital and they have given me provera to force periods which works but only doing this once every 6 months. Unsure if I'm ovulating.
Last time I saw them they said I needed to loose weight which I have halved my food and increased exercise and lost only two kg :(
I feel totally hopeless as getting no where and it's really starting to get me down.
Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar or had any advice? Thanks

Stop eating carbs (including sugar). Eat lots. Not just dieting helps pcos, but low gi diet.

And it's probably not effective to give you fertility drugs at higher bmi, which is why the nhs don't treat you...

Hello,

I also have PCOS and like you didn't have a period for over a year after I came off the pill. Was referred to the hospital and they prescribed metformin. Had a period a week after starting metformin and lost over a stone. Side effects were pretty awful but my GP adjusted my prescription and things are much better now.

Good luck x

Thankyou both-
Should have put I have been in metformin since coming off the pill but since been eating less it's just giving me awful symptoms.
Will see what they say tomorrow thanks

I was originally on metformjn but then switched to metformin slow release and it’s much more manageable Smile

Thanks @gwen7896

The only way I can lose weight with PCOS is low GI, high protein and high 'good' fats.

That's what got my periods back.

Look up diabetic diets for some great recipes and meal plans.

You will find that the high protein keeps you full which helps to stick to the diet. I missed textures like crisps and sort but chewy breads so find some good alternatives that you like and make sure you have them in ready supply. I always had a bag of carrots and tub of humus in the fridge to curb the snack cravings

Thanks @Lwmommy
My husband is type 1 diabetic so we have a fairly good diet anyway but will take a look
Thanks
