Hello everyone, so hubby and i have decided to start TTC and I've stopped my BC as of today , i am currently taking 100mg of sertraline daily.... Do i need to stop taking it? I feel fine in myself now and feel i could stop taking it.... But then who's to say i could become really down again? Any advice or similar stories would be appreciated! Thank you so much x

I would speak to your gp but I think the risk is low and there is more harm of just stopping it to mum to be. Xx

Hello. I'm on 50mg of sertraline and currently 21 weeks pregnant. My midwife and doctor told me to continue taking it as a happy mama makes a happy baby. They said it should have no effect on my baby or pregnancy and so far so good. Grin you should have a chat with your gp/midwife if you aren't sure though.

Thanks ladies, my Dr advised to phase it out over the next 3 weeks which im OK with.

On the other hand, im now a week off of my BC rivedigon pill and every day i have felt utterly dreadful, aches and cramps, feeling nauseated and headaches and bleeding most days . I didn't know coming off the pill would affect me so much!
It makes me think as well if i ever do become pregnant, how the heck would i deal with the side effects of it!!!

My friend had her dose lowered to 25mg during pregnancy as it was a safe level Smile it's amazing what that little tablet can do for you. I stopped with mine when I was pregnant and it send me into a whole new world of crazy

Lower it very slowly, I did over 3 months from a 50mg dose and still had side effects. No remission thankfully for me.

Being pregnant can be tough, and conceiving. Make sure you keep an eye on yourself

Gps are terrible for telling pregnant women to come off their antidepressants. Pregnancy is a huge life change and can be a trigger for mental health problems. By and large if you are on something like sertraline the risk in not taking it far outweighs the risk of taking it.

Update : don't give up BC and antidepressants at the same time...... Just had a breakdown at work..... I've felt dizzy all week and it all just got too much all of a sudden. Wow medication really can affect you!
