Why is ovulation MIA...?

Hi ladies,
I'm wondering if anyone else has (or is) going through the same thing as me.
I on my 4th cycle and i don't seem to have ovulated for any of them. AF also took 4 months to return after stopping pill and hasn't been regular yet.
I'm trying to proactively take steps like vitamins and a more healthy lifestyle but I was wondering if there was anything else I could be doing to help kick start ovulation before I go down the doctor route.
Any suggestions?
Thanks x

Why do you think you haven't ovulated? It's quite normal for cycles to take a year to become 'normal' (whatever that means for you) after coming off birth control.

If you are having periods, you are ovulating. You can't have a period if there's no egg for your body to shed.

Are you tracking your BBT? That's a good way of checking your ovulation at home. You could also ask your GP for a 21 day blood test.

@TokenGinger Untrue, you can have your period and not ovulate.

@Flashback2009 We've currently TTC #1. I took ovulation tests for the first few months of trying, including being on a clinical trial for branded digital ovulation tests, and I never got 'peak' results, only some highs (which are not counted as positive). I've never been on any form of contraception other than using condoms and I've always had a regular period. I recently found out from my mum that she went through some issues with her first marriage before I was born and she basically needed Clomid to kick start her ovulating so I expect I may need this too. But as others have said, I believe it can take a while for your cycle to regulate after being on the pill so it just takes time. Some people manage to get pregnant straight away, other don't. Goodluck to you :)

@Charm23 You learn something new every day. I genuinely didn't know that! Off to google...

Thanks for all your responses.

@physicskate @Kintan I don’t think I’ve ovulated because I’m tracking BBT on fertility friend and it’s never shown ovulation. I could do better at tracking CM though. I do use OPKs but the positives have never matched up with my BBT so I’m thinking my body was trying to ovulate but didn’t.

@Charm23 Thank you - I think what’s throwing me is that with DD I conceived the month after stopping the pill - I didn’t even have AF! I was very lucky.

I guess I’ll just need to be a little more patient, keep tracking and TRY to relax
