Imminent 3rd chemical....why has my clinic suggested IUI??

Hey.... Feeling sorry for myself during what is almost certainly my third chemical pregnancy in 11 months TTC. I'm currently 15dpo and had strong darkening BFPs from 10dpo, but they have starting fading in last two days. That wouldn't have worried me TOO much but I've just starting cramping badly and quite heavy brown-spotting so I'm all but certain this one's over.

Most things I've read say CPs are random bad luck or caused by low prog, but I had mine checked recently and was good. I'm 35. I guess it could be linked to egg quality.

Our clinic (we live in Frankfurt) has suggested IUI in three months if I'm not knocked up by then but I can't see how that will help if the problem is with the egg sticking.

Anyone else in same boat or with experience of this? Thanks xxx

Sorry your going through this CHESTNUT9. I’ve been in the same boat many times with chemicals and miscarriage unfortunately.

I went to a private miscarriage clinic in London and was found to have high killer cells plus I have hypothyroidism and the thyroid antibodies were also causing me problems Sad. With treatment though I got pregnant and stayed pregnant 😊. It might not be the case with you but Maybe it might be worth getting some immune testing done?

Good luck x

Oh thanks MATTSMAMMA! Sorry to hear you went through it but so glad you got there in the end. Did the NHS not offer immune testing? We are moving back to the UK next year so will be back on good old NHS but would def consider private treatment too.

No NHS at the time didn’t offer it - however I’m not sure where they stand on that now? If you google the miscarriage clinic and the Consultant Mr Shehata you will find more info. I believe he does do some NHS work too. After having many chemicals and m/c - once I was on his treatment plan I conceived on first try and stayed pregnant after being dismissed by the nhs that age was likely to be the problem combined with bad luck.

However I always seemed to fall pregnant easily (even in my forties) it was staying pregnant that was a problem ! I got pregnant at 42 first try on this plan. I think a lot more people will have this type of problem without realising and the drug which has helped a lot of people is so inexpensive! Certainly a lot cheaper than the aftercare surgically managed miscarriage requires!

The drug is prednisolone by the way. I appreciate not everyone is the same and it might not work for everyone but I think anyone who has repeats m/c and chemicals should at least look into it xx

Thanks SO MUCH for this - something genuinely new I had not heard of, after reading so much that said it’s just bad luck and nothing can be done. V much appreciated x
