Waiting a cycle after a miscarriage??

Quick question - I had a very early miscarriage last week and I'm wondering whether we can continue trying to conceive or whether we're supposed to wait a cycle?

Sorry about your mc tassis. I had mc few months ago and advice ranged from wait one cycle to 3 cycles although most people admitted there was no actual reason for this, more to allow body time to recover. IMO it's more a case of being emotionally ready rather physically. We waited 1 month. Good luck.

tassis - I don't think you have to wait if you feel ready to try again (though it might make calculating dates difficult). Sorry to hear about your m/c.

i think with an early miscarriage it's not as important (physically) to wait a while, as long as you haven't had a d&c or anything.

i was in the same boat as you - early mis but carried on trying anyway and fell pg again that month. Someone actually told me that you still have loads of hormones floating round and it could mean that you are more likely to 'catch' - but of course, like strawberry said, it's more to do with the emotional side of things, if you feel ready then there's nothing to stop you.

As far as dates go, my gp dated me from the first day of bleeding of the mis, which turned out to be pretty accurate when i had my dating scan at 12 weeks. good luck x

I agree. I'm pretty sure that physically there is no problem. It is emotionally that it can be difficult. The "implantation bleeds and stuff" thread is the current refuge for people who have had m/c or are scared about getting pg again for other reasons, but who are currently ttc. If you want to let out any fears, we's love to see you there!

Tassis, so sorry about your mc. I has one at 6 weeks (10 days before our wedding) and then got married and came back from honeymoon pregnant with DD1, with no period in between. They also used the date of my mc as the 1st day of my LMP, and the scan backed these dates up.
DD1 was and is fine, it's just I did fret a lot that something wouldn't be right. But I think you will worry once you become pregnant again anyway, so you need to think about whether you want this extra worry or not.
best of luck and take care of yourself

Hi tassis, sorry to hear about your mc. How are you doing?

I mc at nearly 7weeks on 12th July and had varying advice, early pregnancy unit that did my scan said to start trying as soon as I was ready to, GP made me cry by telling me to leave it 6 months/cycles and everyone else varied from 1 to 3 months/cycles. Was all very muddly. All I can say is that in our experience, dh and I just kept going with things - there's a stubborn streak in both of us that was determined to get on - it was and is pretty difficult at times emotionally though. My first af finally arrived on cd33 - am usually 28-30 days so wasn't too far off when expected, counted first day of bleed with mc as cd1. Had hoped to fall pg straightaway but in the end felt relieved that I hadn't. Leaving one cycle means it's easier to date and I felt reassured that my body was back to normal, also given that I still feel very up and down about mc I think I would have struggled to be pg again so soon. We're still trying and hoping that this month is ours.

Hope this helps, there are no hard and fast rules, everyones different. Be kind to yourself, take as little or as much time as you and Dp/Dh need - all the very best x x x
