@rosti congratulations, lovely news x

sunshine1987 · 16/10/2018 11:04

@crossfitgirl spoke to someone about the day 21 tests and needs to be done 7 days period period is due so because I ovulated late this month I’ve pushed it back from tomorrow to Friday. I ended up ovulating day 19 so having the test day 23 (should have been 24th but that’s a Saturday and can be done two days either side). Hope that helps xx

Lougg · 16/10/2018 11:56

@rosti congratulations 🎊🎉🎊🎉

So happy for you! As @Delilah7 said tell us everything you did!!

ValidUser · 16/10/2018 12:23

Congrats @rosti!

Thank you so much everyone Smile

@Delilah7 we DTD twice in the fertile period this cycle - 3 days and 1 day before ovulation (positive OPK on the latter one). I laid down in bed for about 15 minutes afterwards both times before getting up to pee, though not sure that makes any difference. I had been taking inositol (teaspoon a day) for PCOS symptoms and Seven Seas TTC, as well as Omega-3 and an extra Vitamin D supplement as my levels tend to be low. Other than that, healthy eating and gentle exercise, sleeping well, and trying not to stress, which is hard when your job is difficult and you're an anxiety sufferer! DH cut back slightly on alcohol.

Main symptom was heavy boobs which progressed to sore boobs and then sore nipples and then really sore 'why are you putting us in a bra nooo'/'don't touch me, DH!' boobs and nipples lol

KatBeCool · 16/10/2018 13:15

@FlapJackered 6mm is so much smaller, when you said 6cm, that seemed huge for them to be so calm about it. So nice to hear that you're ovulating, that's at least encouraging. It'll happen for you.

@Delilah7 you'll ovulate soon. Don't be so hard on yourself. Your body needs time to recover and set itself back to norm and it's possible that the norm is now different. Not saying irregular, but maybe a day or two longer. Don't immediately think that the worst is coming for you. It isn't.

@Lougg I think it's best to use the methods that work for you. For some people it may work to DTD every 2-3 days throughout the entire cycle without any sticks, and for others sticks help a lot more. For me, there's no way I'd be able to keep up having mandatory sex for more than a couple of weeks. There's no advantage to adding stress of not knowing if/when you ovulate if it was better for you to know.

MrsMcnulty20 · 16/10/2018 13:23

Hi all, hoping I can join in and also pick your ttc brains. I’ve been having a read and you all seem way more in the know and also share my recent addiction to poas!

I came off the pill on August and my last period (pill period) started on 23rd August. Since then I’ve had no period at all and have been waiting to get one before we properly started trying (but not using contraception either).

DTD on 4th October and that night and the next day I had what I think was ewcm. On the 6th I did an OPK and it was positive but not a really strong line. Then nothing until a little pink blood and some brown on the 13th and 14th and some brown on the 15th. Not sure if I’m reading into things too much (and imagining symptoms), but have done some tests in the last few days (I’m embarrassed to admit how many!) and just did a frer which was negative, although not morning pee.

I feel like I’m losing the plot a bit - which isn’t a great sign as we’re only just starting. Anyone got any thoughts?

Fingers crossed for all you waiting for your bfps!

ValidUser · 16/10/2018 13:38

@MrsMcnulty20 I'm only on month 3, and you've probably witnessed my poas mania!

No advice here. Just support.

ValidUser · 16/10/2018 13:38

From me I mean.

KatBeCool · 16/10/2018 13:40

@MrsMcnulty20 welcome. IF what you had was implantation bleeding, then you need to give it at least 3-4 days before it'll show up on the tests. Don't waste tests, just wait. Are your cycles normally regular and how long are they? That can be telling too.

FlapJackered · 16/10/2018 13:49

I just spoke to the docs to confirm it was 6mm and not 6cm and they just rang me back and she said it was actually 6cm. 😭
Now I am concerned they don't want to see me until March, what if it grows and damages my ovary?
I might try and get a referral to a specialist.

ValidUser · 16/10/2018 13:53

@FlapJackered I've had a cyst about that size for 18 years. Apparently it's all good.

And if they thought there was anything malignant looking they'd see you far sooner.

(Trying to help, may not be succeeding. I mean well.)

FlapJackered · 16/10/2018 13:56

@ValidUser oh really?! I just did the idiotic thing and googled it and apparently if they grow at that size it can damage the ovary. That's what I am worried about. 😕 did you get yours checked often?

MrsMcnulty20 · 16/10/2018 13:56

@KatBeCool thanks. I’m not sure what my cycles are like as I’ve been on the pill for the last 14 years, came off in August, which is frustrating, I have no idea what’s going on. Thanks, I will try and hold off testing - I did say I’d wait until Friday, but that hasn’t happened yet!

@ValidUser thank you! Mania is definitely a word I can relate to - I don’t know what’s come over me! Nice to know it’s not just me!

MrsMcnulty20 · 16/10/2018 13:59

@FlapJackered do you know how long you’ve had it? I wonder if they’ll look at how quick it’s growing. Sorry to hear

Crossfitgirl · 16/10/2018 14:16

Thanks for that @sunshine1987 that's really helpful, my last 2 cycles were 27 days and my doc did suggest I go on day 20, rather than 21 so that would make sense if it's to be done 7 days before I'm due. maybe that's what I'll do.

Congratulations @rosti! Amazing news! And thank you for giving us all a little breakdown of what you did! were you trying for long? Xxx

sunshine1987 · 16/10/2018 14:20

@crossfitgirl yeah that would make sense. They just check your levels to see if you’ve ovulated so when I explained I had a short lutheal phase they weren’t worried just wanted to check everything was how it should be at that point. I thought it was 7 days from ovulation but turns out it’s the other way round x

CCW1988 · 16/10/2018 14:21

New to this thread but wanted some guidance. Me and my pattern have been TTC and I am now 17 DPO and my AF is 2 days late, just tested and got a BFN. Should I take another test or is this one likely to be accurate. My body has been feeling so different, bloated, tired, heavy and dull aches in my stomach for the last week or so that I was convinced I was going to get a positive. Thanks.

Delilah7 · 16/10/2018 14:25

@KatBeCool can't help it right now x

@FlapJackered easier said than done but if they don't want to see you for a while then it can't be too bad babe? I would crap myself too though and easier for me to say when I don't have the cyst. Xxxx love to you.

@MrsMcnulty20 welcome 😘

@CCW1988 welcome x x

FlapJackered · 16/10/2018 14:30

@Delilah7 Thanks darling. It's just the size that worries me. I think you're right, I should probably just trust that they know what they are talking about. Just feeling a bit low today so I think probably blowing things out of proportion in my mind. Are you feeling any better?

Hi @MrsMcnulty20 - this was the first scan so not sure if it's grown or not. Difficult to know what to do!

@Crossfitgirl yes my doc said it should be 7 days before your period is due, but she said a few days here or there won't make a difference.

@CCW1988 Welcome! It sounds like maybe you ovulated later than you thought, which means it could be too early for a bfp.

CCW1988 · 16/10/2018 14:38

@FlapJackered maybe this is the case have been using the app Flo to track and usually my AF is like clockwork. If not here in a couple of days is it worth testing again do you think?

Sending positive thoughts your way and hoping you can get a second opinion from a specialist, have a friend who had a this too and has gone on to have no ovary issues and row beautiful children since.

Delilah7 · 16/10/2018 14:48

@FlapJackered I'm feeling low too darling. The size would bother me too. But just keep the positive thought of they aren't rushing you into any appointments so they aren't that worried.. x x x

Crossfitgirl · 16/10/2018 14:49

@flapjackered I don't know if this helps but I had a 10cm cyst removed from my fallopian tube when I was 16. But I don't think they remove them unless they are causing issues. I had to wait 2 months for surgery so they obviously didn't see it as something urgent, and I was in a lot of pain with strange bloating too and was even hospitalized for a few days it was so painful, and they still didn't operate there and then, I got sent home again to wait for my surgery the next month.
Funnily enough, at the time they thought I was pregnant! as the doctor grilled me before I was scanned and I had to insist I was, at the time, definitely still a virgin! Obviously the scan revealed i was telling the truth.
Try not to worry too much, but if you do think it's a problem, challenge them and don't be afraid to insist on having it removed. It's your body! Tell them to explain it to you fully and explain your worries fully, and don't be afraid to state you are still concerned if they aren't able to reassure you.they should be able to weigh up the risks and benefits of different treatment options with you at the very least, even if that's just a choice between remove it or monitor it.
