Will an internal scan hurt my chances?

Probably get roasted for this question but here goes...

I’ve got an internal (or transvaginal) scan booked next week. I’ll be about 8dpo.
This scan is not related to TTC, just a routine check as I have been diagnosed with ovarian cysts but not full blown PCOS. GP referred me due to a recent rupture which left me in agony.

Is there any chance this scan might interfere with possible implantation?

10 months strong TTC #1 now with no luck other than 2 early MCs so getting a bit overwhelmed with it all; if I’m in with any chance this month, I don’t want to ruin it Sad

No, how could it possibly interfere with implantation?

crosser62 · 25/09/2018 15:48

No, internal scan probe does not enter the cervix or the womb.
Just the vagina.
Perfectly safe.

@AssassinatedBeauty no idea, I suppose just the equipment knocking around up there near my cervix might trick my uterus into thinking, “nope, not this time!”

@crosser62 thank you, quite relieved.

No, they are quite safe and internal scans are typically used in early pregnancies anyway.

AssassinatedBeauty · 25/09/2018 15:52

That's not how it works. It'll be fine.

TheMerryWidow1 · 25/09/2018 15:57

its fine, if you have IVF they use internal scans all the time.

I had an internal scan and I was pregnant - I didn't know I was pregnant! I was only a few DPO. They said there was a cyst in my womb which I soon found out was in fact my little bean - I'm now 11 weeks.

Don't want to say it definitely won't as I don't know medical facts, but it certainly did me no harm!

Best of luck to you x

@quiz464 ahh what a lovely story! I definitely feel better about it. And congratulations!! Thanks x

@Ells0204 no problem, thank you!

Don't worry about it being a silly question, you want to protect your potential child/future children there's no harm in that 😊
