Day 21 tests and apparently not ovulating!

So, spoke to the Dr this morning to discuss my day 21 test results and seems I didn't ovulate. Didn't come as a complete surprise as my day 3 results showed a 'below range' progesterone level and I of course googled everything I could find on that... Obviously! So despite me and my partner doing the baby dance every other night for months on end, it seems here in lies the problem. Feeling a bit like a failure to be honest. I'm 41, so I know that time is not on my side and I'm desperate to try and see if I can get my progesterone levels up, has anyone got any advice? Heard vitamin B6 could be good to try but not sure how much and when?? Has anyone here had any positive news after the damning 'not ovulating' statement... Sad

Your day 21 progesterone test - what were your results exactly? Ring the surgery for numbers. Clomid maybe the answer if it’s just mediocre levels.

Where do you live? I know a great consultant who can run appropriate tests.

Hello, thank you for replying. Test results of day 21 were 12...Not great eh! I'm in Sussex.

Not rock bottom results but they need to be over 30 for success. Did your GP talk about clomid?

Labradoodliedoodoo · 18/09/2018 00:12

Has he/she just sent you away or refered you on?

We have to wait on my partners test results then both book in to see the Dr. They also want to repeat my day 21 tests this month. Quite scared of Clomid as have heard of side effects, wondering if B6 could help...

How long is your cycle generally? How long was that cycle? Day 21 should be taken 7 days after ovulation, which would be a different cd for different cycle lengths. So if you have a 28 day cycle, it's day 21, but if you had a 35 day cycle it's more likely to be cd28 that you need the test, ifyswim.

Cycle was weirdly 25 days. Its always been 28 days, even starting at the same time of day each month, but two cycles in the last four have been strangely short, including this one. Obviously a bit worried, stressed and emotional that my baby making days are over...

Sorry to jump on! My last cycle was 35 days and Ive just had day 21 test done last Friday and progesterone was

Orpheus - a level of 12 might suggest that your level was coming down (and that you did indeed ovulate) but that you took the test about 3 days too late?? Most people have about 14 days between ovulation and the start of af - so you need the bloods 7 days after ov, which for most people is about 7 days before the start of af (though some people have a shorter or longer luteal phase, so that is one reason many many women track ovulation).

Clomid is nothing to worry about. It’s a walk in the park physically. Many of my friends found the same. I found it emotionally draining though despite trying to be laid back.

Day 21 was too late on a 25 day cycle. It should be midway between ovulation and the start of your period.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 18/09/2018 21:41

Agree you were possibly tested 3 days early. But a day or two out shouldn’t be significant numbers wise. Not sure about three days out though.

However there is the possibility you were tested at the correct time (7 days after ovulation) but your progesterone was too low resulting in immature eggs and a shorter luteal phase. This is what happened to me. My day 21 levels ranged between 14 and 28. Once I started taking clomid my temperature chart cycles were totally different. The luteal phase part of the chart was higher and longer.

Hi, this is quite a while ago now but I had really poor Day 21 tests. Here, you have to have 6 consecutive tests because 1 apparently isn't indicative of an issue.

But in the interim I read a book called Natural Solutions to Infertility (I think) by Marilyn Glanville- took vitamins, went organic, cut out caffeine etc. It takes a couple of months for the changes to come through so not an immediate effect. We were referred to a specialist after 6 months (results were all 10-20) and whilst we were waiting, I got a +ve test (it was my 7th Day 21 day test and it was 75!). I had non-ID twins. Good luck.
