Why does the cervix move around?

I get that when it’s high you are fertile. But what’s the point of it moving around? Why wouldn’t the cervix just stay high and that’s it? I tried to google it and it didn’t say.

Dunno. I've never had any dealings with mine. It's retroverted. Never seen it.

I’ve only starting thinking about it when researching more about fertility and signs. I checked mine and yes it does move! Pretty amazing to me that it moves every month with out me realising it.

For shits and giggles. Wink

Blimey, I didn't know it moved at all. The entire uterus goes upwards as you get older but how the cervix moves without the uterus, I've no idea.

I'll have to ask mine (if I can still find it).

Because it has to be flexible so a baby can pass through

It moves around during your cycle. Not just when a baby is in there.

I've always been told (for the last 10 years) that I have a tilted uterus and then today I've been for a smear test and the nurse said it's in a 'normal' position and not tilted... How does that happen coz the nurse didn't know...???

Sandstormbrewing · 19/09/2018 15:29

The hormones cause it to move. When you are fertile the cervix is high and slightly open to allow the sperm to pass through. When you are not fertile it is low to produce mucus to keep it clean and remove bacteria. It becomes lower when on your period to help the womb lining escape.

Shaw86 your uterus can be tilted and the cervix 'normal;. I'm the other way around, tilted cervix (points backward apparently) but uterus is normal position.

Oh that is interesting as I am due for my AF tomorrow so it will be lower. Thankyou
