Hello everyone! TTC baby #1, second cycle.

I've decided to use OPKs but I'm looking for some advice, would this be considered a negative? After dipping the stick, it flushed red to the green bit, is that normal? Never used them before and I think I'm over complicating things Blush

TIA and happy BD ladies Smile

@mrsof20118 could you of ovulated earlier than you thought? Or maybe... twins.. 😍😂

@delilah7 I know three couples who have had twins in the last year!
Looking at my chart maybe I could have done around 6th or 7th. It went up and dropped slightly before going up again but maybe I had a blip in taking temperature that day?

@feverbee yeah that’s a negative as there’s no second line. Though would wait for the test to become white rather than the back colour to be the dye before double checking x

More than happy to take full blame for that BFP @mrsof20118!
I hope it's not a false positive, 7dpo is very early but it's also a very faint line, so figures. And you can implant as early as 3dpo I've heard.

I'm assuming you'll test again tomorrow?

@flapjackered if a lie would get me pregnant, I'd lie till I'm blue in the face!!

I'm deliberating about lying to the doc about how long we've been trying, or whether to just be honest and say I have PCOS and want reassurance, but risk them still just saying wait a year.

When I do go (mayne next cycle or 2), I may say we started in Feb when I came off the pill rather than in May when we stopped using condoms.

@sunshine1987 thank you! When a second line appears would the line get darker as I move into my fertile week or is it just a case of no second line until the day of the LH surge?

Report
Crossfitgirl · 16/09/2018 11:27

@feverbee i usually get a faint line a day or two before the positive one. Xxx

@Crossfitgirl aaah okay, thanks. This forum has taught me so much! TTC can feel like a bit of a minefield at times.

@Crossfitgirl will test again first thing tomorrow. If there's a visible line I'll book in for a docs appointment. They usually don't have any for about three weeks anyway!

@mrsof20118 such a good line considering wasn’t FMU, I wonder whether you ovulated earlier. Do your doctors do anything? Mine won’t see you to confirm anything, you self refer to a midwife

OMG @mrsof20118 !!!!! Congrats darling 💕💕💕 xxx

@FlapJackered it's all over the place - I'm not going to temp next cycle and then the one after I'm going to do it from my v I think x

@Delilah7 stay positive hunny, it took me months to get a positive OPK, and I got it by chance xx

@mrsof20118 so exciting!! I would say you ov'd on 7th sept looking at your chart. I could be wrong though.

@cupcakesandglitter sorry your chart is so messed up. I have been there, mine was all over the place before ov, but seems to be behaving now. Hopefully it sorts itself out, otherwise I think you're right temping vaginally is meant to be much more accurate.

@Crossfitgirl I have to say I did tell a white lie and told the docs we had been trying for a year. Mostly because I knew I had a thyroid problem but I knew they wouldn't treat it properly unless they thought I was having problems conceiving. It worked and I got the medication.

Oh this TTC business can be such a roller coaster, can't it?! 🎢🎢🎢

I normally have a 24 day cycle with ovulation on CD 14.

I had some cramping a few days ago on 9 DOO but just thought AF was on the way so thought nothing of it.

The cramping disappeared around CD 22 and then my boobs just ACHED like never before (and still do).

AF didn't come on CD 24 or CD 25 but now cramps have restarted and I am feeling like AF will come tomorrow or within the next few days.

I took a cheapy test tonight but BFN.

I really got my hopes up there for a minute 😭

@flapjackered sometimes you have to beat the system to get what you need.
If you dont mind me asking, how long had you actually been trying when you said a year?
It seems like forever for us, but actually since (and including) May, it's only 4 and a half months... even though I'm on cycle 6 now.
And really, I've only been tracking ovulation for the last 3 cycles, to find the apps had my fertile week totally wrong!
So in reality I've hardly given it chance.
And I also don't want to be diagnosed with infertility if I'm actually not (with it not being a year), but I also don't want to have to wait a whole year if it doesn't happen soon cos I think my PCOS could impact.
Oh... the internal struggles!

Maybe I'll just go in a couple of cycles if not preggers by then, and tell an in between lie and say we started trying in Feb rather than May. Lol. So it's not saying a whole year but also means I don't have to wait as long for intervention if it doesn't happen.

@validuser sorry to ask for advice based on what you are training for, i hope you dont mind and you might have no idea or no opinion, as I guess it's a GP specialism, but what do you think of the above? Play the system a little with valid reason to get reassurance about PCOS, or just be totally honest and give a real time account?
I work in the NHS myself and know how slow things can be, and i know sometimes it can take a little push to get investigations or treatment, but I also don't want to shoot myself in the foot! xx

@Crossfitgirl We started trying in March but had a few accidents before then right around ovulation and it didn't happen so probably about 5 months? I did say to them we had been trying for 10months, but stressed I really want to get my thyroid tested and then the doc actually suggested I get another hormone blood test because of my long cycles. I have got another one this cycle then I am going to leave it at that if nothing comes up and then just see what happens.
To be honest I was more worried about the lengths of my cycle as it was so irregular I knew there must be a problem, but with a good diet I have managed to bring it down to 🤞🏻will be 29 days this cycle so if I can keep them short naturally rather than going the medication route that would be better.
Are your cycles regular? If there is a sign something isn't right I would definitely get the ball rolling as it can take a while.
