I'm wondering how accurate ur dating scan is? I'm unsure from things I've read online. Is day 1 the day u conceived? Thanks

No, day 1 is the first day of your last period as it was the last day you definitely weren't pregnant.
This means that when you conceive you are considered to be 2 weeks pregnant already.
Hope this helps

4 % of dc arrive on time which is 40 weeks from date of last period.

What do you mean by "accurate"?

The whole idea of a single "due date" is a bit of a misnomer. It's really more the identification of a 2-4 week period in which your baby is likeliest to arrive.

The actual most frequent day of birth for a first baby is 40+5; for subsequent babies, 40+3. Apparently.

I had my first baby 4 weeks before my due date she was 7lb 1 and perfectly healthy we got discharged from the hospital within 24 hours.

I was told today I was 13 weeks 2 days I was wondering if baby 2 was likely to be born near the due date of March 16th

My dating scan give me one date and I counted 40 weeks from the day I Conceived. They give me dates 8 days apart, I went into labour on my due date and delivered the next day. So I was only 1 day late by my dates, 9 days by the scans. So accurate to the point of the 2 weeks either way window.

mussie · 10/09/2018 19:31

@ifoundthebread You would count 38 weeks from conception, not 40. The first two weeks are pre-conception

ifoundthebread · 10/09/2018 19:54

I know that. But when I fell pregnant I wasn't having periods, so I didn't have a first day of last period to go by, so to give myself a brief idea I counted 40 weeks from the last time I had sex to give myself a late as it could be due date.

mussie · 10/09/2018 20:00

@ifoundthebread sorry, I wasn't making sense. I meant a pregnancy is only 40 weeks long if you're counting from last period. If you choose to count from sex/ovulation/conception instead, then you only need to add 38 weeks.

mussie · 10/09/2018 20:01

Oh so you were trying to figure out when you'd be 42 weeks? Oh ok I get it, ignore me

CountessVonBoobs · 10/09/2018 20:53

Yes, baby is likely to be born within the two weeks either side of March 16th - that's really as accurate as anyone can be.
