TTC and living abroad

Hi, just wondered if there were any others TTC living outside the UK.

I am feeling litle isolated at the moment.

I moved out here to Northern Spain only a couple of months ago with my DH and 2DD's. We are due to stay here for just a couple of years with his job.

We have decided not to tell anyone our plans as they are all living in the UK and we expect they will worry so much.

I have no idea what to expect of the system out here. I know from previous experience about having children, but it seems very strange in a foreign country.

I would love to hear from anyone with any thoughts

Hello
I live abroad and was a bit anxious during my first pregnancy because pregnancy and childbirth was treated very differently from what my friends back home were going through. (On top of all the first time mother stuff!)
Have you tried posting in living overseas? There might be some mners in Spain who are already mums and can share their experiences of the Spanish system.

Thanks for that info. I will take a look.

It is very difficult when you are away from familiar surroundings.

I already have 2DD's who both arrived with the usual ups and downs, so we were hoping that everything would be normal again.

I don't speak the language and I have no idea of the way they do things here.

Having been overdue with one of my DD's by two weeks, and being fed up by this time. I was really surprised to hear that a neighbour of mine is now three weeks overdue. I am sure this can't be right, but I wonder how she feels.

I don't know anything about Spain but they calculate the due dates differently in France so you can only ever be one week overdue before they induce whereas in the UK you can go up to two weeks. But you wouldn't be more pregnant in either case. I think in the UK they calculate from conception and here they calculate from the first day of your last period.

Don't know if that makes any sense, but if Spain uses different calculations, it might explain why your neighbour is 3 weeks overdue.
