Diet and fertility

I wrote a long one and it got deleted. Grr. Anyway has anyone noticed diet effecting their cycles and fertility? Has anyone changed their diet to help regulate periods? What are you eating now to help get pregnant? Cutting back on alcohol and coffee?

For three months before ivf I went on a pretty big health kick. 6+ of my five a day, fish twice a week, lots of protein. No alcohol or caffeine. My cycle worked. I didn't lose weight (actually gained a couple pounds), but very glad I felt I was doing everything I possibly could. Hell, it probably made no difference at all though and was pot luck that it worked.

Weight affects cycles more than what you eat (as fat produces oestrogen).

Ah, I guess I will try eating healthy and exercise this month to see if diet helps fertility and sorting out my cycles so they are regular 28 days again. I am at perfect pre kids weight so don't really need to lose or gain any. But cutting back on my wine could help I think :) Although, I am sure I would loose 5lbs in a few weeks if I stopped drinking.

I don't have celiac disease, but I do have an autoimmune condition, and I find that if I cut out gluten, I have a longer luteal phase, and have less PMS symptoms in general. There is a good book I recently read called Fertile written by Emma Cannon who writes a lot about diet. Good luck to you Mamabear12 and congratulations on your IVF success physicskate :)

A low sugar diet worked for us! There's scientific evidence for it out there if you search for it. It works best if both you and your partner cut out all added sugar and refined carbs. Good luck!

I’ve been doing a ‘fertility’ diet for 4 months now and my cycles have remained the same, but af is totally different in a good way. Had been really scant and pink/watery and now back to normal for me. So that’s evidence enough for me!
We’ve been doing the following:
Minimal/no gluten, milk, sugar, caffeine, alcohol
Increased protein (oily fish especially) and veg plus good fat
Supplements recommended by nutritionist
No BFP yet, but feeling very healthy.
