Stressed out by long cycles and TTC

Me and my husband are TTC and I have been off the contraceptive pill for 12 months now. Only had 4 periods in that year. Doctor has done blood test - all fine and external and internal ultrasound - also all fine. Currently on CD69, no AF and BFN. I am now stressed that there is no AF, which is probably causing the problem?! Is there anything I can do possibly diet/nutrition wise to help? I exercise 3/4 times a week and i am in the normal BMI range. Don’t smoke and am I social drinker. Any help/advice will be gratefully received!

Hi, I was in your position when ttc#1 (and he’s 10 now!)

There was no real reason my cycles were so long / irregular but I found taking my temperature and keeping a record helped me figure out when I was ovulating and I eventually got pg.

When I started to ttc #2 there was no messing about, I went straight back to temping and got my bfp much faster second time round.

After DS2 was born my cycles miraculously went into a regular 32 day pattern - Sod’s law as I swore I was never ttc again! (That might have changed recently!)

@LatteLover12 thanks for your response.

I did buy a thermometer but I lost patience as my temperature seemed to fluctuate all the time. Any tips on how best to do it, morning, evening? Maybe I wasn’t taking it at the exact same time everyday. It is so good to hear a positive story from somerlse who had long cycles!

First thing in the morning. I gave myself a 30 minute window (so if I usually took it at 7am but it was 7.30 I still counted it).

It takes a bit of practise but if you can take it before you’ve even sat up in bed then that’s the most accurate.

I had an old fashioned paper chart but these days there’s a million apps that will turn your temperature into a chart for you.

Good luck!

Also, there’s supplements like starflower oil etc that are meant to help regulate cycles but I was never sure how they would interact with my multivitamin (better than just folic acid) so I was wary about them.

Hi when I stopped the pill in January 2017 it took me 6 months to start ovulating and then my cycles were mega long, I took Agnus Castus and starting doing fertility acupuncture & I managed to get my cycles down to around 35 days and conceived a few months later, unfortunately I had a miscarriage and then went on to have a 2nd miscarriage and my cycles went back to being all over the place but after going back to acupuncture my last 2 months I have had a 30 day cycle so I defo believe this is helping me. I know it’s expensive but it’s worth a try to try and regulate your cycles x
