Driving myself bonkers after 3rd chemical

Hi all, am just coming to the end of my period following a chemical pregnancy that ended at 5 weeks, and going a bit nuts not knowing what to do next. I'm 36 and this is the third time this has happened, me and my husband seem to be able to conceive alright but then can't maintain a pregnancy past 5/6 weeks.
My GP has given me a referral but the appointment isn't til 31st October and I can't decide whether to keep trying in the meantime.
My gut tells me to keep trying but I'm not sure I can cope with another loss so soon if there is an issue we don't know about yet.
I keep reading about low progesterone levels causing early miscarriages so i'm guessing I will be tested for this by the specialist, but does anyone know if it's safe to take in the meantime just in case? If so has anyone had success with it?
I'm so impatient which i know is not the best way to be but I can't help it! Confused

Progesterone is totally safe. It can give you raging pms though. You're only meant to take it after ovulation. Have you had a day 21 (which is actually taken 7 days after ov regardless of what cd that is) blood test? Any level above 30 is fine to support pregnancy (and confirms ovulation).

Thanks for the reply! No tests of any description yet, am assuming I’ll have to wait until end of October for them... that’s good news about the progesterone though, I might look into getting some as I’ve now convinced myself I have all the symptoms of low levels! Hmm obviously could be nothing to do with it, but seems like it’s relatively common and would make me feel slightly less wary about trying in the meantime.

Which supplements are the best? I’m currently taking folic acid but is there something else which I should be taking? Sorry to hear about your losses @Dumpling82. I had a mc in April and I’ve only just started to think about ttc again x x

physicskate · 06/08/2018 16:12

Folic acid and vit d are advised to support pregnancy in the earliest stages although they don't help you get or maintain pregnancy, just ensure the longer term health of the developing fetus/ foetus.

Oh and dumpling - it's thought that up to 70% of all conceptions end in chemical pregnancy. You're far from being alone.

Be kind to yourself.

Thanks both! Have decided to keep trying and will try my best to be practical and not obsess about things, at least I now have the appointment booked so whatever happens between now and then at least I’ll hopefully have some answers Smile

Sorry to butt in here but @physicskate I recognise you from a previous thread of mine, how is your pregnancy going? All well I hope!

For you OP Flowers I don't think there's any harm in taking a supplement or trying in the mean time (although I know it can be tough emotionally) fact is, there could be absolutely nothing wrong with you at all chemical pregnancys are unfortunately very very common. Wish you the best of luck, I hope your next pregnancy is a happy & healthy one!

Hi @Beautifulblue. Ten weeks on Friday. Still feeling pretty ropey but pleased about that! Hope you are well.

Still trying to give sympathetic, but realistic and factual advice to anyone who might listen...

Beautifulblue · 08/08/2018 22:05

Amazing news @physicskate so happy for you, genuinely! Made my evening Smile

physicskate · 08/08/2018 22:14
