Do the cheap £1 HPT's work as well as the branded £10+ tests? Are they just as accurate or is it worth stocking up on more expensive ones?

I’ve always tested first with cheapies which are positive with very low hormone levels. They’re way less than £1, last lot I got was 15 for a couple of quid.

People swear by first response tests which usually show a clearer line but when I’ve been pregnant it’s alwaya shown on a cheap dip one.

Good luck!

Imo the cheaper ones are more sensitive and give an earlier result. CB and most digitals need higher hcg to get a bfp!

For each of my pregnancies I’ve gone for cheap red dye Asda tests (two in a pack) then confirmed on a clear blue digital that gives the weeks, always worked for me!

I've had accurate, early results from Superdrug's own brand but I must say I do find First Response very reliable and good for early results even though they are a bit pricier Smile x

Cheapies are fine, but pink dye only. Blue dyes terrible

The cheap ones work just as well and I don't consider £1 to even be the cheap ones, I'd only get a £1 one if I ran out of my actual cheap ones. I'd never pay £10 for one pregnancy test, fine if you want to but there's no need

If you look on Amazon lots of internet cheapies have negative/mixed reviews, especially ones that claim to be early detection or sensitive. I use FRER and Boots or Superdrug own brand which I have been fine with. I am using internet cheapies at the moment though as I have a very irregular cycle after coming off contraception and I can't afford to keep buying tests! I will confirm with a branded test if / when I get a positive or suspect a false negative using them.

I have two Tesco pregnancy tests with a horrible, pencil thin grey line where my desperately wanted blue line should be!
Both evaps appeared within five minutes (I made a cuppa to distract myself) and left me heartbroken once I realised what had happened
So I don't recommend Tesco
I did email them in a strop though and they gave me a £15 voucher so I shall spend it on comfort food 😂

Superdrug basic tests are rubbish, had lots of evaps on internet cheapies but first response have never let me down.

Angelmiracle · 29/07/2018 01:07

First response all the way!!! Cheapie see nothing, pink line on FRER, Tesco blue dye 11dpo. Seen the line on FRER 10dpo and pink vvvvvv light line on Boots own brand

Personally I would only use clearblue digital because I like to see it clear, no messing around with lines.
