Ttc and thyroid

Looking for some advice.

I've been ttc for about 8 months now and had a miscarriage in May. I did one of the Medicheck thyroid tests because, as well as the miscarriage, I've been feeling really tired recently and thought it might be worth getting it checked out. I suppose I was looking to rule things out more than anything and didn't want to bother the GP if there was no need.

Anyway, the results are now back and while most things are within range my thyroglobulin antibody levels are at 682 - well above the 0-115 range.

So my question is, what should I do now? The general advice is to monitor this and check again in a year or if symptoms appear but given I'm trying to get pregnant should I do more? If I go to the GP now are they likely to take it seriously? And can they even do anything? Anyone had any similar experiences?

Thanks

I've been borderline thyroid when ttc for years. Tsh should be below 2.5 seems to be about the only measure they go by. (Once has tsh come back as 2.4 and it was called a 'non-issue').

I'd go armed to the teeth with studies and guidelines about what your numbers should be. Search for threads on here. There have been quite a few over the last few years that already have helpful links.

I found I was suffering from an over active thyroid ten months into ttc. I would get to your gp and request a full thyroid check. It is well documented that having an abnormal thyroid can be a cause of miscarriages and infertility. I am currently having a hard time getting my consultant to listen to the nice guidelines and make sure my t4 to be on the lower end of normal and my tsh below 2.5 not the 5 which is normal for everyday life!!

Thanks physicskate . My tsh came back as 2.06, which seems fine so that's why I wondered if they'd even bat an eyelid. I'll take a look at some old threads - thanks for the tip.

Thanks ilovetrees30 - my tsh seems fine, which is the only thing I really had any awareness of beforehand. Just don't don't know what to make of this thyroglobulin antibody result!

Did you get your freet4 or t3 tested??

Hetty85 · 25/07/2018 11:22

Free thyroxine - 13.2
Free T3 - 3.57

Both within range. It was only the thyroglobulin that was out.

I had a MMC last year and in February of this year was diagnosed with Graves disease. Have been seeing an endocrinologist and thankfully at my last appt, all thyroid levels were within normal range and my antibodies had come down too.
I've been trying to get pregnant since my mmc and it isn't happening. I'm now starting to panic.

Oh presh!! I am exactly the same. I got pregnant three months after my levels normalised but sadly i miscarried at 5.5 weeks. Im now approaching the end of cycle 4 after the mc and starting to lose hope it will happen again but i know its possible!! I have an appointment with my consultant in a fortnight so hopefully they can update me on what my levels are actually doing as i think my tsh is still a bit high!!

Very sorry for your losses. They're just so difficult - I think I'm still struggling with mine. I hope it all works out for you.

If your thyroid antibodies are positive (which they are) then you must maintain a TSH of
