TTC from September - any advice?

Hello. So we've finally decided to start TTC from September. It's not sooner because I'm still recovering from a car accident. I'm nearly 36, need to lose weight (which I'm working on) anything else you can recommend? Our relationship is amazing (13 years together), we have an amazing new home and everything (bar my injuries) are great. When should I start taking folic acid etc?

Start taking folic acid and Vit D straight away - professionals advise that it is best for baby if you are taking these 3 months prior to conception as it builds up your stores. There are lots of expensive kinds on the market but some brands can muck up your cycles so good plain old boring folic acid does the job. I got mine from Home Bargains - 79p - bargain!
Eating healthy can only help matters.

Thank you :) I currently have reduced mobility because of the accident but am returning slowly to the gym. The doctor has given me folic acid tablets but will check out vitamin D. Xx

The well-woman range does a preconception supplement that you can take if you fancy it, aLthough it's a bit pricey. Recommended that you start 3 months before ttc.
You could start keeping an eye in your cycles to get a better idea of fertile window if you like. I wouldn't bother with temperature charting etc, but it's fairly easy to spot changes in cervical mucus when you go to the loo, and note which day of your cycle it changes on. During your fertile window, it's very wet and stretchy, and should be clear (as opposed to white and sticky/thick).
Generally it's a good idea to be in as good physical condition as possible, so gentle exercise and having a good BMI can be good. Exercise also reduces stress levels, which can improve fertility. I found swimming to be great exercise, so perhaps that would work if you are not yet recovered? Yoga and similar were good too, and were good practice for breathing exercises (which you won't need for a while, but nothing wrong with being prepared!).
You probably shouldn't do too much decorating when pregnant, so maybe get any decorating done in advance? I don't know if you're the sort of person who would like a nice baby nursery ready and waiting, personally we didn't bother with that but many of our friends did and loved it. There may be other things about your home that aren't that any friendly that you could maybe deal with now, any big changes to garden needed?

Frankly, you could do nothing in preparation except take folic acid and it would all still be fine, but sometimes the planning is fun! I loved getting everything ready for my DD.

TTC from September - any advice

Wait until December. Then you get an autumn baby who is oldest in the school year instead of a sumner baby who us youngest.

I'm also TTC from September!

I'm tracking my ovulation from now because I'm obsessive dedicated and taking my vitamins (pregnacare conception because they were on offer).

So far it looks like I ovulate a day or two after I thought, so tracking was a good idea.

I'm TTC #2 in September too!
I have an eight year old from a previous relationship. I'm 35 now so figured I should get cracking if I want another!
Good luck OP and anyone else TTC.
