Short luteal phase- any success stories

Hello,

I've been TTC #1 for 8 months now and I have recently been tracking my temperature with ovusense which shows I do ovulate.

It appears my luteal phase is only 8 days which is not good. GPS in my area won't do anything until you have been TTC for 2 years.

I just wondered if anyone had conceived with a short luteal phase or whether your luteal phase lengthend on its own without medication?

Thanks xoxo

Hi op, didn't want to leave you hanging. My luteal phase is 10 days which I've read is quite short however I've never had an issues x

Some other forums I've read up on many ladies have conceived with an 8/9 LP. I took Vitamin B6 for a few months it made my LP a day longer each month - 10 11 now at 12 maybe worth a go? I took Lamberts 50mg B6 1 daily 👍🏼

Hi, I also have a short luteal phase around 8/9 days on average. I had blood work done by my GP which showed that actually I wasn't ovulating. Had a laparoscopy and dye (my 2nd one to treat endometriosis) last week and that has shown a blocked tube. Just waiting for follow up appointment to discuss Clomid. My GP explained what is leftover from ovulation (the corpus luteum) produces the progesterone, so subsequently if you haven't ovulated there's no corpus luteum and therefore your progesterone levels fall quickly which starts the early spotting/short luteal phase.

I was getting positive OPKs, so thought I was ovulating, but in hindsight the test line never got darker than the control line, just as dark as. Hope this helps you - maybe see your GP as a luteal phase defect is reason to warrant further investigations without waiting two years x

I also used B6 vitamin to lengthen mine and fell pregnant quickly after doing so (was trying for 6 moths) - good luck x

I also have an 8 day LP and have conceived twice. The first time took a year, and the second took 3 months. I’ve never done anything to lengthen it as I kind of feel like I don’t want to interfere in something I don’t really understand! So I guess my point is that a short LP shouldn’t prevent you getting pregnant so try not to obsess about and just relax!

Hi -my luteal phase ranges from 8-10 days -we have been ttc for 11 months. I use vitex and think that has helped a bit. Also you could try accupture? Could you exaggerate how long you have been trying with your doc -we did and I’m glad we did as I have been diagnosed with endo and PCO. Good luck

Hi @gossipgirl28 - short luteal phases are scary, huh! Mine changed to 7-8 days after the birth of DS so really made trying for baby #2 quite disheartening at times.

I think I got lucky - after about 9 months of trying I am now 16 weeks pregnant with my second. The only thing I changed was taking vit b6 and temping every morning so I could be absolutely sure when I ovulated. It didn't lengthen the luteal phase but it obviously did something as doctors said I hadn't a hope of conceiving naturally with one that short!

Good luck - it can happen x
