What does this OPK mean? (Picture)

Just taken my first ever OPK. I followed all the instructions, this is the result. The test line is lighter than the control line, which I assume means a negative test, but there seems to be a streak through both the control and test lines, does that mean I have done it incorrectly? How can I prevent that from happening again? I’m hoping some of you who have been here before can help me!

TIA

That's a negative OPK Hun. Keep testing, same time everyday. When both lines are equally as dark is a positive xxx

@MrsMac1489 Thank you! That’s helpful.
Do you know why a test can be negative both with or without a test line? Does the line mean that ovulation isn’t too far away? If there was no line at all would that mean it’s further away? Sorry! I’m literally clueless, this is all new to me Smile

So your hormone levels can change dramatically throughout the month. Sometimes you can get a positive OPK just before your period too. But it doesn't mean it's the end of this months chances. Keep testing. Xxx

I would say ovulation is definitely on the way with that test line so keep testing and possibly do it twice a day from now on as the positive can come and go very quickly!
The dye run is something that just happens every now and then. You could try not dipping it for so long or holding it with the dipped part down vertically for a min and that might help 🙂

It’s negative and it’s likely just a fault line in the test.
