Hi All I'm so new to all this and this is my first post... looking for some clarity and support if I'm honest! Please excuse my naivety I am trying to understand this complex baby making world! Smile

I think I'm at 2ww 10dpo with BFN I have been reading all the online reviews and am confused... I have PCOS with irregular cycles from 35-50 days so knowing when OPK was has always been later then the norm. I use boots opk strips which showed LH surge 21/6. We tried on and around this date. Boobs sore feels like AF is coming Sad

A few questions

  • is 2ww standard to everyone even with PCOS .
  • when do I count dpo from?
  • right ovary has a dull painIsh is that normal?

As far as I know, the ovulation strips don't work when you have PCOS. So relying too heavily on those is a mistake. Broadly speaking, the period between ovulation and your period should be the same whether PCOS or not, but I thought it was longer than 10 days, more like 12-14.

@BlingLoving thank you! I will keep waiting

@maypop Hi I have PCOS also. I always believed I couldn't use opks but I was wrong!! I have tracked ovulation with them the last couple of months with CB advanced opks plus ic opks (amazon). In May I ovulated cd20. Got AF cd31 so had 11 day LP. In June I ovulated CD18 (bloods at GP 7 days after O confirmed I ovulated) AF arrived CD30 so 12 day LP - I was taking vit B6 to help lengthen my LP.

CB advanced detects 2 hormones- rise of estrogen before your lh surge (flashing smiley faces) and the LH surge (static smiley face) supposedly ovulate 24-36 hrs after the peak opk.

So if you have ewcm or ovulation pain along with positive opk that would indicate you are ovulating.

Sorry I'm rambling. I have ordered Ovusense because I'd be no good at temping but it's all electronic and you put a little sensor type thing in overnight internally. Supposed to be 99% at detecting ovulation even with pcos!

@Angelmiracle Smile
Aww thank you so much for the response really helpful so I'm not going crazy.

I need to increased my LH phase too

I'm definitely going to the ovusense as I feel like I'm guessing too!

I'm waiting for AF or if I prayed hard enough BFP.

How long have you been trying?

There's discount with Ovusense Summer25% - I'm still waiting for mine in post!

I have DS! Took us 18months ttc him. I thought it would take some time so we didn't use opks temping etc just regularly dtd. Felt like a long time then! DS is 5 and we haven't prevented pregnancy since having him but never caught yet!

Been to gynae had internal ultrasound - womb and ovaries look good and had a HSG in May and tubes aren't blocked so that's good. DH getting SA soon. I was taking Angus Castus (vitex) for a few months when I conceived with DS so I'm going to buy some again try them for 5/6 weeks.

@maypop just know that anything is possible. Pcos doesn't mean no baby. I know I will get my 2nd bfp we just have to "stick at it" but go see the GP after 12 months if you don't get preg. It's reassuring when you know both of you are ok. Even a simple issue resolved can make all the difference. Stay positive keep trying! Good luck 🤞🌼

The thing about PCOS is that the actual treatment - Clomid - is cheap. So one way to speed things up is if you get basic tests done via NHS as usual, you can then go privately simultaneously (this was recommended by my GP). So if your PCOS is confirmed, a private gynaecologist would quite often happily go straight to Clomid without the extra tests. When we were doing this, the NHS wanted to do tests on my tubes etc before they'd agree to start treatment but the private doctor's point was that the PCOS is confirmed so there's no downside to giving Clomid a three-month attempt. If it didn't take after that, she would recommend continuing with the other tests, privately if they could be paid for or via NHS if I couldn't.

I got pregnant in Month 2. The Clomid cost me £5.50. And I had to pay for a couple or private appointments and blood tests. MUCH much cheaper than we usually expect fertility treatment to be.
