I had my coil removed 30/04/18 and had a light bleed a few days afterwards and nothing since. I have now done 3 tests all BFN yet no period.
We are ttc and I am not disheartened by the neg tests just wondering what the hell is going on with my cycle.
Trying to get in to the doctor's but that's proving near on impossible as they never have any appointments free when I call and won't let me book one in advance Confused
Anyone else in a similar or has been in a similar situation? Did you fall without having your period start after removal? How long did conception take?
I know these probably been answered before but I couldnt find anything when I searched

How long did you have the coil? I'm not able to offer any advice but following with interest as I have the coil and we're going to start TTC in three months time.

I'm on my second coil now having got my first one in back in 2011 and haven't had a period since then. I'm tempted to get it out now and let my cycles return to normal although not sure what we'd use as protection in the meantime.

I had my coil in for almost 2 years, prior to that I was contraceptive free for a few years. I am 43 so I know my age is a huge factor. Last time I had the marina coil my periods returned pretty much straight away.
I did suffer "the marina crash" a month after removal (absolute hormonal hell!) Now I'm back to my semi-normal self. Apart from breast tenderness and a little bit soppy tears I have no symptoms of pregnancy either

I had mirena for 8 years (one coil for 5 years, then another for 3 when the first expired). When I had it removed it took about 8 weeks for me to get a "normal" period.

We didn't start TTC until over a year after I had it out so can't give you much advice on how long for fertility to come back, but 8 weeks for period.

KinCat · 03/07/2018 08:57

Why did you get it out Spooples (if you don't mind me asking)?

Dawne are you tracking your cycles in any way like temping, OPKs etc? I've been reading about the Mirena and when fertility returns and everyone seems to have such different experiences. Makes it hard to plan :/

DawneDD73 · 03/07/2018 09:38

KinCat I didn't have a period at all when I had the coil in so have no idea of what my cycle is, was waiting for my periods to fall back into place before tracking cycles

Spooples no sign of period at all and I'm heading into week 10.
Guess I'm going to have to badger the doctor's for an appointment 😊

I don't have them either Dawne but I was looking at signs of ovulation and I definitely do have some of them (like the egg white cervical mucus) so I think it's possible to still be going through a cycle just without the bleeding iyswim.

Maybe try temping etc for a month and see if you can tell whether you're ovulating? Sods law as soon as you get it all together you'll start bleeding...

DawneDD73 · 03/07/2018 12:30

KinCat I have noticed mucus etc just not tracked anything

I'm going to just keep waiting, keep trying to get an appointment at the docs and let nature take its course. I'm not buying anymore tests 🤣

I had a Mirena coil for 3 years, had it taken out and had light bleeding and cramping just after. Then it was around 70+ days before I had a period! I always had a regular period whilst the coil was in. I think it takes a while for your body to adjust afterwards... I was panicking like mad but it should come eventually, try not to worry too much x

Spooples · 04/07/2018 18:41

@KinCat - I had it removed because we did at the time plan on TTC immediately. We then unexpectedly had a big life change (both new jobs and a move across the country) so put it on hold for a bit. Didn't fancy having it put back in again though! 😊

DawneDD73 · 04/07/2018 19:14

Semicharmedkindalife it's crazy isn't it as the doctor's tell you that once the Marina is removed the hormone leaves your body straight away and everything returns to normal. I am still trying to get a gp appointment, may have to just take time off work to be seen, just so they can see why my cycle hasn't kick started itself yet
