I’m TTC #1 on my 6th cycle. I’m 33 years old. From what I have read online you should try for a year before going to the doctor if under 35. I have no patience and a history of infertility in the family (my side). Convinced all is not as it should be and I also have no patience. If I go to the doctors now will he chase me to come back in 6 months?

I thought it was six months of over 30? Worth making an appointment to find out

I was laughed out of the office at 12 months as I'd had a chemical pregnancy and told to come back at the two year mark.

I've just been through ivf and I will say that even doctors can't make you become pregnant. There is a certain element of luck involved. At the 6 month mark you are only slightly more likely to have become pregnant than not. It's a number's game...

If your under 35 it's try for a year. However if you have "known problems" they will investigate and refer after 6 months. So if your cycles are irregular you could go in earlier?

The other thing you could do is pay privately (would cost about £300-£500) for tests as if they're abnormal at 6 months you'll be referred on the nhs for fertility services.

Might seem like a lot of money but in the infertility world £500 is sadly nothing! (Cost me £17000 but I'm finally there!!)

Also - I haven't looked at figures for 33 but I know age 31 the average time to conceive is 7 months so it will be slightly higher for your age. So you're within the normal range - women massively under estimate how long it takes to conceive. And yes if everything is normal I.e you're healthy with regular cycles they'll just ask you to come back at 12 months

Thanks for the above. I guess I will just have to sit it out. Everyone seems to be getting pregnant around me “without trying” or so they say so I’m getting quite frustrated. I honestly assumed it would happen so easy - totally naive. My cycles seem regular enough about 28-29 days so il hang in there and fingers crossed.
Oh and congrats to you Hoping2018!
