Ovulation test detecting pregnancy??

Hi We have been trying for a baby for over 3 years with no luck at all. I have really irregular periods (my last being in February) I do regular ovulation tests with there never being a second line. This week my boobs have been progressively getting heavier and they basically feel like they are going to fall off. I done a pregnancy test yesterday which was negative but I just didn’t feel convinced at all, I thought I was closer to coming on. Anyway I’ve retaken an ovulation test and it came up a faint line. After reading up about it I just wanted to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation. Or am I just clutching at straws 😩😩

The faint line should hopefully get darker. I would take two tests a day and monitor and compare them. Dtd as much as you can for the next four to five days to have you covered. I think it's ovulation.

I think you're having an LH surge which might mean you're gearing up to ovulate in the next few days. Keep taking the tests, maybe a couple a day after 10am and if the second line gets darker hopefully you'll ovulate in a few days. Check your cm and make sure you dtd :)

He will think he’s won the lottery 😂😂. I will keep doing the ovulation tests and see what happens. Thankyou xx

Me! I was due AF when I started getting strange cramps. I didn’t have a HPT to hand so used an OPK. A faint line came up. Got a proper test later on and it was positive. Good luck.

Aww I really hope so. I just don't want to get my hopes up. My boobs were my give away on my last baby as well, that's what's making me unsure of the last pregnancy test. So fingers crossed!! Congratulations to you!! 😀

I'm sure I read that while a positive opk can be due to pregnancy, there has to be a high level of hcg for it to happen, and at the level required you would get a clear positive on a pregnancy test.

Hopefully you are the exception to the rule! But keep BDing anyway in case you are building up to your surge Grin

Ok, a few things.

1/ What kind of ovulation test are you using? I never got a positive on the Boots ones or cheap strip ones but I always get a positive on the Clearblue Advanced Digital Kits. They are more expensive but they work.

2/ Some ovulation tests (specifically the Clearblue digitals) actually DO turn positive when you're pregnant because they can't distinguish between your pre-ovulation LH surge and your pregnancy hormone. However, as someone said above, if there was enough hormone to detect on an ovulation detector, it should really show up in a pregnancy test too, unless you used a brand that isn't very sensitive.

3/ Finally - and this catches a lot of women out - early pregnancy symptoms are very similar to feelings we can get every month anyway due to rising progesterone levels after ovulation. It's the progesterone that causes sore boobs, creamy cervical fluid, nausea, etc.
