How long does it take for an egg to be fertilised once you have had sex during a fertile period (if it will be fertilised)
And then how long does it take to show up on a test?
Is the general consensus approx 12 days from time you think you were fertile and had sex?
Sorry

It takes between 6-10 days for the egg to implant once you've ovulated Once implanted it'll take up to 48 hours for it to produce enough hcg to be detected on a pregnancy test. So the very earliest, if you're lucky, that you'll get a positive is 8 days after you've ovulated

Hope this helps

When you ovulate the egg the egg has about a 12 hour window of being available to be fertilised. However sperm live for about 3 days (can be up to 7 days but 3 days is more realistic), the sperm needs to be in the Fallopian tube ready to meet that egg, which is why to basics are try and have sex every 2-3 days leading up to and around time of ovulation to ensure that sperm is there ready and waiting when egg leaves the ovary.
Once the sperm fertilises the egg it takes anything between 4 and 10 days to implant into womb lining. 2 days after it implants there should be enough HCG hormone to get a positive pregnancy test. During this time though it's very common for "chemical pregnancy " to occur. This is when it try's to implant, produces some HCG but then comes away. This can give false hope to people who take pregnancy tests before their period is due (I hold my hands up to being someone who is guilty of regularly early testing!!)
Hope this helps x
