Hi all! :)

TTC baby #1 i'm 3 to 5 days late for my period but every test is a negative.

The not knowing is driving me a little crazy, any advice? 😆 so far tried Asda and clear but tests as I couldn't get my hands on a first response.

TIA xx

Can’t help but me and you both! I’m currently 10 days late. Cd39...one test cd32 and one cd36 both negative! Driving me demented! So big hugs xx

Hey @tory934 I’m in the same boat... third day late today and still bfn.... I’m having some spotting but I have got a cervical ectropion which apparently causes that... no period though. So frustrating!

NimbleKnitter · 15/06/2018 12:28

The usual reason for this is late or missed ovulation.

Do you know when you ovulated? Are you temping or using opks?

Kr250710 · 15/06/2018 12:44

@NimbleKnitter I’ve not been doing either but also have never ever been a day late before so very strange if this is the case?

What about you @italianwifey and @Tory934?

X

I would go and see your dr for a blood test 😃

NimbleKnitter · 15/06/2018 12:49

It's pretty common for women to ovulate late or miss a month once or twice a year.

It's also common to only notice once you start TTC - usually your period comes but is a few days later, or a bit lighter than usual.

Most pregnancy tests will show an accurate result by the time your period is due.

NimbleKnitter · 15/06/2018 12:51

Doctors won't do blood tests for a single missed period.

Pregnancy tests are so accurate, they rely on those.

If you miss several periods, but still don't get a positive test, then it's worth seeing a doctor as there could be an underlying cause (eg PCOS)

italianwifey · 15/06/2018 13:13

@nimbleknitter I’ve been temping and ttc for past 4 months. I’ve already had tests etc as I have endo and was anxious about it all so docs have done blood tests and I’ve also had extensive scans and investigation in past so pretty sure I don’t have PCOS. My temps fell a bit under cover line day 13 so I thought af was definitely on her way but have ride back up since although not super high. Maybe I didn’t ovulate but my temps and ff seem to think I did? Either way it’s annoying!

Kr250710 · 15/06/2018 13:16

@NimbleKnitter I do understand what you are saying, however, false negatives are also common.
One of my friends had five negative pregnancy tests and was pregnant.
I can’t risk being pregnant and not knowing early on as I have epilepsy so will need meds altering, this is why it is so frustrating for me. X

NimbleKnitter · 15/06/2018 13:28

False negatives are common before your period is due. Not after.

Your hcg levels double with pregnancy, so if you are still getting negative tests, chances are you aren't pregnant this month. It might be worth you trying temping or opks, that way you'll be able to track when you ovulate. Good luck!

@italianwifey if your temps are heading back up, that's usually a good sign.

Again, nothing you can do except wait, but that sounds hopeful.

Fingers crossed

italianwifey · 15/06/2018 13:43

Thanks @nimbleknitter , in all likelihood I think I’m not as 16dpo I thought it would be pos by now. But if period is still not here in another 3 days time I might test again.... just a bit irritating as I’m pretty sure I ovulated and my LP is usually 13 days but as u say, you can have a strange cycle every now and then. Sounds like a waiting game! Let me know how you get on @tort and @kr250!

SoozC · 15/06/2018 22:04

I was five days late about two years ago (very regular cycle usually). No obvious reason, so I imagine it was due to delayed ovulation. It does happen unfortunately.
