How early does hospital urine pregnancy tests detect pregnancy?

I went to hospital on Friday for a work related incident and they did a routine standard urine test to make sure i wasn't pregnant. (It come back negative)

My cycles differ month to month however last month I had a 36 day cycle so presumed my cycles were returning to normal and prior to this it's been about 46 days. The day they tested me was cycle day 35. I still haven't had AF and now I'm on cycle day 41 and still no AF.

So what I'm wondering is could they have tested too early and thats why it was negative? Could I have ovulate later this month and my cycle length just be longer this month? Or am I clutching at desperate straws hoping I'm pregnant and it's just not our month again this month?? I had the sore boobs, bloating etc and now i have no signs that AF is going to show it's ugly head

Can anyone shed some light that would be great??

They are usually just bog standard tests you can get online (funnily enough). Maybe retest?

Ah okay. I don't know why I thought they had some special ultra sensitive tests thst they use. It's a week ago tomorrow since they tested me so maybe I'll test first thing in the morning and see what it says. Sounds like there is a slight glimmer of hope for us this month after all.
Thank you for your response xx

The hospital tests are way less sensitive than Home tests! I've tested positive at home and negative on hospital ones before and always been pregnant. I'd jut buy a test now if I were you, good luck

Ah sounds promising. I shall do a test in the morning and see what it says

They are the same as the high street ones. They have to be quite sensitive as the repercussions of sending someone to theatre and then finding out they are pregnant could be serious.

So do you think the chances of me being pregnant are quite low then? My app says that I probably ovulated on the 1st June and the urine test was done on the 8th. Would that do you think be enough time for it to show if I was or not? X

You would have only been 7dpo when the hospital did the test, very rarely will someone get any sort of positive that early! I'd test in the morning if I were you, fingers crossed!

£1 in most chemists/Asda same tests. Same method. Same results. Usually as soon as your body knows it’s pregnant, your pee does.

Hospital tests are 25miu from what I gathered at EPU. It is possible to test negative at 14 dpo on one of those so you're not out til AF shows.

Day 46 and a negative test Confused still no period and no symptoms I'm coming on. Just wish I would get my bfp or af to turn up. Got an appointment at the fertility part of the hospital next week so we shall see what happens x
