Hello all,
I am new here and me and my OH are looking to start a family. Started testing on CD 8 not sure if it’s right CD but I started with CB digital ones from CD 8 till yesterday which was my CD 12 . I have been using the first urine sample first thing in the morning And NO smiley face as yet! I ran out of CB so I popped in sainsburys this morning and got sainsburys Ovulation kit and there was one very dark line and a faint one in the other window. Today is my CD 13 and still negative.
I know I shouldn’t be worried yet after reading so many comments about ladies ovulating D18 etc but my main issue is

  1. What time of the day is the right one to test? Test kit says between 10am - 8pm. Also says many women found 12pm perfect timing.
  2. Clear blue digital says the best timing is first thing in the morning!
Please help. Thank you all

Firstly, you can buy the same tests MUCH cheaper from amazon as well as basic pregnancy tests. Theyre the one step ones.

Mid morning is fair enough. I used to hide one in my bra and do it at work on my break! Blush But to be fair, my results used to be pretty clear and once the test went positive it was unmistakeable and stayed that way for two days regardless of what time of day i took the test. For that reason i found them so so helpful.

I didn't used to ovulate until around day 18-20 with a 32ish day cycle. It would have taken me ages to get pregnant without knowing that.

I second poster above ^ I get my OPKs from amazon so cheap and they work so well. I always actually test in the evening after I come home from work. Apparently you’re not meant to use FMU as might get a false positive. I typically O’d on CD18/19 as well but I’ve managed to shorten my cycles and get it to CD14/15 now. GL x

I only got a positive OPK on cd 23 this month! I had a chemical last month and was about to give up and wait til next month so keep going! I read an interesting article on the difference between cb OPK (and why they recommend fmu) and IC ones. Cb are looking for a change in LH to indicate a surge so it doesn’t really matter when you test as long as it’s roughly the same time every day. Fmu is an easy one to ensure you probably haven’t peed or drunk in the hours leading up to it so works well.
Ic are just measuring the level of Lh (so can’t tell any change from one day to the next). As fmu is most concentrated if you test with that then it could give you a false positive and make it look like your surge is happening before it is.

The LH surge usually starts early hours of the morning, so on dip tests it's best to test in the afternoon as it takes a while to build up and you may miss it testing with fmu. The clearblue ones with the smiley face test for E3G as well so work slightly differently and can be done with fmu as advised in the instructions. I've always used the cheapies and get on fine with them but it's personal choice. If you've got a shorter than average Luteal Phase then in theory could ovulate around day 20 of a 30 day cycle. Keep testing x
