Hi all,

Been watching for a while but this is my first post!

Husband and I want to TTC but my cycles are completely wacky since stopping the pill (after being on it for 10 years) in mid-November. Only had 4 cycles since- a 37 day, a 20 day, a 97 day and currently on day 42 of fourth cycle.

Has anyone got any advice for stabilising my cycles or anyone experienced the same thing?

I went to the doctor in March but he told me to come back in July if they still hadn't stabilised. I will go back but am worried that my irregular cycles will impact on TTC.

Thank you x

Hi, I had exactly the same problem after stopping the pill. It's so frustrating!! I started taking a herbal tablet called Agnus Castus which helps to regulate fertility hormones. It reduced my cycle length to 30-40 days which is still a bit longer than average but not horrendous! I eventually concieved after 10 months but sadly miscarried and went on to conceive my little boy 4 months later.
I also used ovulation tests to pin point ovulation (there's no way I was going to dtd every other day for 70 odd days 😂)
It can seem like there's no hope to start with but it can happen at any point and it will get better as your body regulates 🙂 Good luck and wishing you a quick ttc journey and a healthy pregnancy! X

I'm very sorry to hear about your miscarriage but lovely to hear that you have a son!

Do you have any recommendations for ovulation tests? And when would I start them? Assuming 42 days into my cycle wouldn't work!

Did you go to doc at all or just take the Angus Castus after your own research?

inused the one step ovulation tests from Amazon. You can get 60 for £10 or so which is good when you will Ben using so many! So I know I wasn't going to ovulate before day 20 so never tested then. From then on I wouldn't do one every couple of days and if the line was darker I'd then do one every day until almost dark - then a couple times a day to get a positive line.

I had all the initial tests and then went to the fertility clinic who said I probably wasn't successfully ovulating every cycle(which I already suspected) and prescribed me clomud to take next cycle. But I got my bfp before I could start it 😁

It's definitely worth going back to the dr and having tests as you then have a head start if you are still ttc a year down the line but hopefully you will have a bfp before then 😊 xx

Thank you, I'll have a look tonight and buy some. DTD every other day for 40+ days would be a bit much 😂

So pleased I didn't listen to the nurse at my clinic, who said I didn't need to come off pill until we wanted to TTC...I had no idea it would take over 7 months for my cycle to regulate!
