Did I have a chemical pregnancy?

Hi, wondering if anyone fancies trying to figure out what’s happened here :)

Firstly, I have very normal periods every month, always arriving between day 26 and 30. I always have 5 days of bleeding (medium bleeding, then heavy, then light) and has been this way since a teen. A couple of years ago my husband and I tried for a baby, and I was lucky enough to get pregnant first time. I knew I was pregnant right away because by day 31, I’d had no period and suddenly had this very tiny bit of spotting (could only see it when I wiped) which lasted about an hour, then absolutely nothing for two days, then on day 34 I did a pregnancy test and it was positive, which I expected. So I believe the bleed on day 31 was an implantation bleed.

Now, my husband and I have started trying for our second baby. We’ve been trying for three months, and last month exactly the same thing happened as above - I got to day 32, had a tiny bit of spotting, then no further bleeding, so was obviously convinced I was pregnant again. However, when I did a pregnancy test at day 34, I was very surprised to see it was negative, and then on day 35 I had an actual period.

So - getting to the point now - does it sound like I had a chemical pregnancy?? Because I thought chemical pregnancies were when you had an actual positive test, and then had a period, but I never actually got a positive. But I refuse to believe that it was just a very late period - not when the only other time I’ve had spotting like this is when I was pregnant before.

Anyone else had this happen to them and do you think it was a chemical pregnancy?

(in case it seems unusual that I’m getting so hung up on this, it’s because the last time I fell pregnant easily, despite having stage 3 endometriosis. My worry is that now we’re trying again two years later, it’s not going to be as easy because the endo will have grown even more. So, as awful as it sounds, a chemical pregnancy would be a good thing, as it at least means the sperm is still able to make it’s way to the egg, but it just didn't work out for reasons that probably aren't related to the endo)

Thanks for any advice!!

Lauren

I’m afraid I think you’d have had a positive test for it to be a chemical.
