Hello: would love some information about the clearblue monitor from people who have used it or are using it. Is it easy to use? Is it worth the money? What is the Boots one? Help.

Hi pat I'm using the CBFM, only on my 2nd cycle after m/c so can't really say weather it works or not. Seems easy enough to use, just pee on stick, no need to collect urine if you don't want. Apparently depending on your oestrogen and LH level, it tells you whether your fertility is High or Peak. Peak is when LH surge is detected. I did get 2 peak days 1st cycle using the CBFM but when I tested with my normal OPK, it was negative. So don't know what happened there. This cycle I've already tested 10x and monitor gave me High reading for the last 6days. Again my opks were zilch. Each cycle you'll need 10 sticks but this cycle I'll need another 10 I think. Not sure when it'll get me to stop testing. The sticks is quite expensive £20 for 10 from Boots. Sorry that I can't be much help. Hopefully somebody 'expert' out there will able to give clearer answers.

Sorry wrong info there: it's £20 for a box of 20 which should last you 2 cycles according to leaflet.

Hi there - have been using CBFM for a while now - started last April and used it for three cycles - figured out my cycle then stopped - started again in January when still no BFP so have used it for 7 cycles total. My cycles are pretty regular and always got at least 3 high days then 2 peaks (always CD12-14) then another high. For the past 4 months I have also used the ebay cheap OPK strips and they would seem to tie in a positive with my first peak day on CBFM. And I have also been temping and it all three methods seem to agree with each other on my OV day each month - so hopefully for me it has been pretty accurate.

Have been TTC for 14 cycles total and just got a bfp so would say CBFM did help me to understand my cycle along with many other tools

At first you will use all ten sticks each cycle but as you get used to it and it and it learns your cycles it will ask for less and for the past 2 months I have ignored it asking for a test until CD8 or 9 (instead of CD6) It can become quite £ though

hurrah!!!! congrats how exciting!!! hopefully i'll be able to join you soon, fingers x'd

ok, about this cbfm machine, it's been asking me to test for the last 10 days but all i get is high. i think it will ask me again 2row but i already ran out of sticks. i was just going to ignore it until next cycle. should i run out to town and buy another pack you think? i've always had regular cycles but this is my 2nd cycle after m/c so god knows what's normal for me now . any insight would be greatly appreaciated. oh, sprinkle some baby dust over here plsssss

Thanks my1st (this is my first too!) I am so sorry to hear you had a m.c

Are you temping as well ? I would say that while the CBFM is good it is only one part of a massive jigsaw and I am a belt and braces kinda gal so my advice would be if your really want ot know your cycle inside out start charting your temperatures (join us on the temping buddies thread if you like - everyone is wonderful there )
Then you will get an idea of ovulation from CBFM and temps will back it up - I am tempted to say that so soon after MC your cycle and hormones are probably still a bit out of whack and CBFM is not making sense of them yet. Do you have an idea of when you usually ovulate b4 m/c , are your cycles pretty regular?

my1stbaby · 16/05/2007 15:47

thanks for the baby dust seaside my cycle was very regular before m/c, 27-28 days and i always get tve opk and cd 12/13 but actually ovulate quite late cd15/16. i don't get ovulation pain unfortunately. i am starting to temp this time round. last cycle had a temp shift but fertility software said no ovulation. this cycle it says i'm on th einfertile phase and no ovulation detected

greatly admired your strength, c14 wow!! i'm already so depressed and its only c2! so happy that it bfp for you. best of luck and take very good care of yourself.

HIya
i bought the clearblue fertility monitor last year, i had a missed mc last march and started trying again last may nothing happened for few months so in september i bought the monitor in october i feel pregnant, i found it very useful and easy to use, im now 32 weeks.
i lent it to my friend who had been trying for 8 months and she feel pregnant within 2 cycles, whether its all down to the monitor or just luck i dont know but i genuinely believe it worked, good luck xxxx

patkica · 18/05/2007 09:44

Thanks everyone and congrats seaside: wonderful news. Like my1st, I had a m/c not so long ago and my cycle is still all over the place so I think I'll leave it for a little while until things calm down. But I like to be in control to so will probably invest in a couple of months or so.

I have found the CBFM very easy to use and its readings have been inline with the temping predictions. Yes it isn't cheap but I think its consistent.

After a while you can tell what the reading will be when you look at the line on the stick!
