Drinking Alcohol

Hi Ladies!

I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm currently 17 days late and always work like clockwork for AF but my tests are all saying negative! Haven't been able to do one this morning but I'm off on my SIL to be's hen party today. She doesn't know we're TTC and I don't want her to know, despite her probably making comments like 'ooh your breathing are you pregnant' all weekend 🙄

What do I do? Some people have said 'think of the amount of people who don't know and still get drunk' but then I keep thinking what if I do have a drink and AF arrives, I'll feel so guilty!! What are the risks? Tbh I'm not overly fussed about alcohol just know I'll be hit with a million questions if I'm not drinking

Hi Ginge12!

I'm not sure what the risks are, but I did know one lady who got very drunk after she conceived (she didn't know she was pregnant) and now she's almost due, so all seemed fine with her. Probably depends on the amount you drink and how fast you drink It. But even a small amount there's probably a small risk in the early stages.

It is a really difficult situation. It depends on if you're comfortable lying about why you're not drinking. You could always try the old "I'm on antibiotics" but people might still make assumptions. Another option is to order non alcoholic drinks like tonic/lemonade and just act like it's a gin and tonic, I've heard some people doing this. Or non alcoholic beer, mock-tails. Threes even a wikipedia on fake drinking: <a class="break-all" href="https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.wikihow.com/Pretend-to-Drink-Alcohol%3famp=1#ampshare=www.wikihow.com/Pretend-to-Drink-Alcohol" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.google.com/amp/s/m.wikihow.com/Pretend-to-Drink-Alcohol%3famp=1#ampshare=www.wikihow.com/Pretend-to-Drink-Alcohol
If the others are fairly tipsy they might not notice. Sorry if this is terrible advice, it's my first post! I hope it goes well for you and I hope aunt flow stays away!

Good luck!

I’m not sure you should take I did know one lady who got very drunk after she conceived (she didn't know she was pregnant) and now she's almost due, so all seemed fine with her. as evidence! 😲

Most problems wouldn’t be evident till after birth, for a start!

To be honest you would of had a postive test by now if you were pregnant, so I would still drink x

Kee80 · 05/05/2018 09:24

Do you have any pregnancy signs do you really think your pregnant? If so don't drink, just say your not feeling to good.

Also I wasn't ttc I found out I was pregnant with my son when I was 11 weeks. I was out every weekend drinking. I was only young haha. He's fine was an healthy 8lb no problems at all

Kee80 · 05/05/2018 09:25

Should say when I did find out I was pregnant obviously I stopped drinking!

Ginge12 · 05/05/2018 12:27

Thanks for the advice everyone, I think I'm gonna see how it goes, if people start asking questions I'll judge it then. I'm not a massive drinker which they know anyway xx

NICR guidelines on alcohol when TTC are 1-2 units 1-2 per week. So I'd have one so no one thinks your pregnant but maybe just that?

Really though have whatever you wouldn't feel guilty about if you did turn out to be pregnant!

So far so good, they have a pimp your prosecco table so I've added the sparkle stuff to lemonade and telling everyone it's wine 🤣🙊
