Sex at a certain time for a boy or girl

Does this work? My friend told me something about having sex during ovulation for a boy and before for a girl or something like this. I must admit I just nodded and smiled at the time. I'm not ttc myself at the moment. Just curious.

It's a load of rubbish, an old wives tale. There is no way to engineer yourself to have a specific gender, it's not possible. Sorry.
What are you basing your opinion on? It’s a medical fact that male sperm tend to swim faster.

So why is it so far fetched that you can manipulate this to increase your chance of one sex over the other?

I know 4 different couples who have followed these rules and got the baby of the genders that they tried for.

It is not fact that male sperm swim faster, it's nonsense. There's some evidence that diet may have a tiny effect, like making it 51/49 instead of 50/50, but really it's like flipping a coin.

I’ve got a son and miscarried my daughter. My son was conceived on day 13 and I think my daughter was conceived on day 12.

I don’t know the gender of my other pregnancies.

I had a woman suggest Shettles to me years ago, which she tried herself but ended up having two boys. So in her case, not a reliable method.

There are so many reasons why certain sperm may not reach the egg and even of those that reach it, only one can get inside. I honestly think the whole thing is just a big pot of randomness and not worth thinking about too much!

We're due to start ttc in a few months and I was getting curious about it.
