Just received my Ava bracelet today. Any positive or negative stories about them? 39, regular 24 day cycles, recently diagnosed with thyroid disorder and consequently periods only last 2 days, MMC last June, no luck since.

No I haven’t used one but would be interested to hear what people think 😊

TimeWaitsForNoWoman · 22/04/2018 18:17

I've just got one too! Am using it for the first time this month. Really hoping I can pinpoint my FW a bit more precisely.

NoseringGirl · 22/04/2018 18:34

I'm in my third month. I really like it. The temps are more accurate than bbt (I get a smoother line) and I feel like the predictions are pretty good. I really enjoy looking at all the data.
The only downsides are the biphasic pattern detection includes all the parameters so even though I had an anovulatory cycle last month, it said it detected a biphasic pattern (my RPR was biphasic, possibly because my body tried and failed to ovulate?) so I was concerned that would impact on future predictions. The tech support on it is fairly slow as well.
The Facebook group is worth joining as I've learnt a lot of Ava from that. It's quite American but there's a few of us from the UK on there.

For anyone reading and thinking about getting it, I've got this discount link...

wow they look amazing!

I was expecting £79-£150 not £249! I'd love to try this but it's way out of my price range.

love to hear people's stories though!

Hi Ladies! I purchased my Ava bracelet on the 05/04/2018 and for the first week was really enjoying waking up to read my stats every morning. So my cycle is 30days which means as standard I am meant to ovulate on day 16. My ava detected I should ovulate on day 14 according to my data (which was yesterday 29/04/2018). Sorry TMI but I got the egg white discharge, slight period like cramps and done a clear blue ovulation test and had the smiley face! I am sooo impressed with Ava already. Love it and well worth the money. It has however gone up to £249?1 So my sis in law is gutted she didn’t buy it sooner!

Quick funny add on; I was super excited that my Ava had detected ovulation correctly so I ran down and showed him the smiley face and his face changed to a super excited but in shock expression! And I was like no no no I’m not pregnant lol I’m ovulating! Bless him too cute! :)

I've just got my ovusense in the post this morning. Similar idea of BBT recording without the faff of temping like ava. But you wear it like a tampon while you sleep. It's waaaay cheaper at £60 (with discount codes you can Google ) so I thought I'd give it a try!

0lapislazuli · 29/01/2019 11:30

I really like the Ava. I have just finished my first complete cycle and it got the day of ovulation spot on. I compared it this cycle to OPKs, but I will stop using OPKs now and just use the bracelet, because it identifies when your fertile period begins (four days or so before ovulation) and when ovulation is predicted.

It uses different parameters, such as skin temperatures and heart rate to tell you when your fertile time is in real time (meaning it can adjust its predictions if your parameters don’t match up yet) , then will confirm ovulation a few days after it has happened.

What I like is that it offers this combination of predicting your fertile time before ovulation (which taking your bbt or regular OPKs can’t do), but it can also confirm ovulation, without the hassle of having to wake up at the same time every morning to take your temp.

It’s a bit of an investment, but you can always resell them, unlike the ovusense. This also makes it cheaper than the clearblue monitor I was using. In addition, the app is free to use, while with the ovusense you have to pay for an (expensive) subscription. That’s why I chose the Ava. Ava is now selling the second version (2.0) which is more accurate than the first one was, so it’s worth getting it new.

You can get a discount (currently £30, but this is time limited) through my referral link: avawomen.ref-r.com/c/i/12607/20140318

@EvelineUK Temperature is only one of the things it measures. It also reads heart rate and breathing rate and a few other things. They use this to predict the days before ovulation, so you know it’s getting close, which bbt alone can’t do. For instance, your resting pulse rate goes up by around 2 beats per minute in the days leading up to ovulation. It then confirms ovulation, using rising temperate, heart rate and breathing rate.

I used to use the clearblue monitor in combination with BBT, but for this cycle, now that I know the bracelet works, I won’t bother anymore.

It also shows details on your sleep. Some mornings I wake up tired and I can then see that I’ve not had enough deep sleep.

I been ttc for 8 years and ummed and ahed about getting it for about two, mainly due to the cost but I took the plunge and I have to say it's the best decision ever! The information I get every morning is fascinating but the best bit is I'm.not second guessing myself so much! I can have a 7 day difference in my cycle and I'd get my hope's up if I was late every time but now I have a better idea of when I've ovulated and how long my luteal phase is I dont seem to feel that stress as much. Currently still using the opks as I'm only in my seond month and it takes 3 months for it to get used to your body.

Cant put a price on peace of mind and becoming a mummy....
Atleast I know I've tried everything.

Baby dust all round guys and here's a current discount code for £20 off.

Xxx

Hi All,

Found this thread very informative when considering whether to purchase an Ava so thought I'd report back and post my discount code.

Ava is a really nice, well-made, easy-to-use piece of kit. Synching with the smartphone app has been straightforward. There's an alarm setting as well - the device will vibrate gently on your arm when you ask it to and then snoozes itself until you actually get up and take it off. I find it a much more pleasant wake-up call than any of my phone's hideous noises...

I've been using Natural Cycles for about 6 months and am hoping to transition to Ava. Therefore, I'm cycle tracking initially and then looking to move into TTC mode. I have found the learning experience of using NC very interesting. I seem to be pretty regular and so I'll be interested to see how quickly Ava cottons on... or whether there's in fact any disagreement between the two apps over the coming months!

I must say that Ava is a lot less hassle to use than taking BBT orally each morning. Additionally, as I'm an irregular and disrupted sleeper, I worry about whether getting more / less sleep, waking in the night, getting up in the night will knock out the reliability of the oral BBT readings.

Interesting, I'm currently still tracking BBT orally and so can compare alongside the Ava temp readings. They do not yet correlate exactly - most days they have both gone in the same direction (as compared to the previous day) but not always. I think the Ava literature led me to expect a lower skin temperature but my Ava more often reads a higher figure than the oral BBT. But it's early days yet...

I can definitely concur that the sleep tracking data seems to be a very good indicator about why you feel more/less tired some mornings!

As promised, discount code for £20:

Happy tracking, everyone!

I liked my AVA to begin with but it started to frustrate me. I was using it religiously but it needed charging every day. It was a nightmare. I gave up in the end and stopped bothering in November. Got my BFP at the beginning of January just using OPKs.

claireb707 · 01/02/2020 17:39

I got one in November so haven't used it for 3 full cycles yet. I like it, am still doing oral bbt as well but think am going to stop that soon as my sleep is so erratic that I'm struggling to take it at same time every day.

There is a slight difference with the temps between Ava and oral but that is to be expected

Hi everyone, hope it's okay for me to jump in here! I'm new so may require some grace!
I would just really value any advice from fellow Ava users... I've been using Ava for a few months now. I had a miscarriage in October and I've just found out I'm pregnant again (only CD22 so super early and a huge surprise as we'd actually decided to stop trying due to current events!!) but my data is making me a bit anxious, mainly as my resting pulse rate is really low, and staying low, whereas everything I read (and in all my normal cycles) it remains high for the whole of the luteal phase. Can anyone offer any similar experiences where everything turned out okay? I'd love to post a pic, but can't work out how to. Thanks so much for anything you can offer! Flowers
