I have a feeling this will be a twin pregnancy.

My DH has been away most of the month.
He got back the same day I got a positive OPK and we DTD once that night (for the 1st time in 4 weeks)

6 days after DTD I started getting positive tests.

I am starting to think it has to be twins as there is no way I could have been pregnant earlier as there was no sperm to catch the egg.

Feeling nervous.

You’ll probably get more responses in pregnancy rather than in here...

unintentionalthreadkiller · 13/04/2018 23:55

I have twins and didn't get a positive until I was a week late.

PurpleSnails · 14/04/2018 07:19

Congratulations, I got really early positive tests in both my pregnancies, they were both single babies though. Good luck with everything 😁

Don’t ectopic pregnancies give very early strong positives?

Whether it’s twins or not at day 6 the hormones haven’t even been released because the blastocyst hasn’t imbedded into the uterine wall in order for it to trigger the HCG hormone which is what comes out in your urine and makes for a positive test.

So either you have your dates mixed up or it could be an ectopic (where it imbeds itself isn’t be tube, not the uterine wall, perhaps this is why it’s an earlier result? Someone else might better info than me on that).

I have twins and i got a really strong positive at 10dpo. Nothing before that. 6 days after dtd seems really fast.

PurpleSnails · 14/04/2018 08:23

JustVent I think ectopic pregnancies are more likely to have lower levels of hormones and be less detectable on tests. As far as I know molar pregnancies can produce very high levels of hormones though. There was a great post on here yesterday I think about natural hormone levels and how that can affect when you get a positive test. You may just have high natural levels OP. I assume I must have and that is why I tested positive early on both my pregnancies.

I have twins and did have a positive test early on.
I think it's too early to tell.

I've seen a number of posts on MN over the years from members convinced they are having twins because they're carrying big or have been sick lots or early testing etc. But it's often jumping to conclusions. You'll find out soon enough.

I had symptoms very early with my twin pregnancy, I just knew within a week and got a positive test result a few days after that. With my single pregnancy I didn’t get a positive until I was two weeks late.

I didn’t suspect twins at all though and was hideously shocked at an early scan due to bleeding to see two heartbeats. Love them really though, most of the time.

mintchick · 14/04/2018 10:46

I also have twins and got my BFP at 9dpo and at 10dpo it was a clear dark line!

JustVent · 14/04/2018 12:14

physiologically speaking there is no pregnancy at day 6. See diagram.
There is nothing implanted ergo you have not generated the human hormone that comes out in the urine.

As I said, wrong dates.

BoBo90 · 14/04/2018 20:32

I agree with the others that 6dpo is very early to receive a positive test. However only you know your dates (and I think you would know when you dtd Wink) so I would be wondering if you are possibly a lot further along than you thought? Could you have conceived on what you thought was your previous cycle? You may have had a period and early bfn's but still be pregnant?? Either way congrats op!!

pineapplefritter · 14/04/2018 21:36

I had positive tests on frer and clear blue on 15th March and then started bleeding heavily on the 17th March so I assumed it was a chemical pregnancy.

OP posts:
pineapplefritter · 14/04/2018 21:37

But then surely if I was pregnant from the March I wouldn’t have got smileys on the ovulation test.

Lots of women have what seems like a normal heavy period but are still pregnant so it's possible it wasn't a chemical pregnancy.

Opks will turn positive if you are pregnant. Not 100% sure how the digital smiley ones would react but i imagine they would also be positive!
Maybe get yourself a clear blue digi that will tell you the weeks. If it says 3+ then it's off to the gp for you to get an early scan 😊 Xx
