I received my basal thermometer in the post this morning. It comes with a chart but not quite sure what I need to be looking out for. Any help would be greatly appreciated x

I use an app - fertility friend - which plots the temperature and spots patterns. I also temp vaginally as I found oral temping too erratic. I take my temp first thing when I wake up before I get out of bed. I don't really bother do it at the same time of day, just first thing seems to be accurate enough for me.

Thanks @79andnotout What do I do with the results? Looking online it says that if temp rises then you’ve already ovulated. So will it take a bit of time to get a pattern? X

Yeah depends what your trying to figure out but basically your temp rises after ovulation, but you need to have been recording your temp from a few days before to get a baseline reading. Mine shifts by about half a degree so is quite noticeable.

I used this method to get pregnant. I agree with taking it vaginally as it's more accurate and I tracked it on a fertility app. I didn't use fertility friend but the app is pink with a feather. It was very good at working out when I had ovulated and when I should next ovulated which helped me get pregnant.

I also used fertility friend and took my temperature vaginally as it seemed more accurate.

I didn't let my temperature shift guide when I started trying. I basically would dtd every other day from the end of my period until 48 hours after my temperature shift. I was quite eye opening though as I found that I had a slightly short luteal phase and so was actually ovulating about 3/4 days later than I would have predicted.

It's been over a year since I did it but basically there is a big dip when you've ovulated and then your temp rises. If you are pregnant it will continue to rise. If you are not it will crash again and you'll get a period
