Hey everyone,

Been on here lots so I’m sure many of you know my story by now 🤣.
Had a MC in Jan, about 4 weeks later developed left side pelvic pain and it’s decided it likes me so much that I still live with it!!!
I have relcutantly been offered a laparoscopy as the next step going forward. My googling symptoms has gone into overdrive and I’ve convinced myself I have the most severe, horrific form of endometriosis there is and I’m gibbering wreck.
There has been times over the years ive thought ooooo I wonder if this is an Endo symptom but nothing has majorly stuck out and I was lucky to conceive 2nd cycle off the pill..
Anyway....REASSURING LAP STORIES PLEASE LADIES!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I've had 2 laps fpr endometriosis and I was scared to death before I went in. Then afterwards I woke up and thought to myself is that it? You honestly will be fine the only bad thing is the shoulder pain afterwards from where they pump the gas into you but peppermint tea works a treat

AngelsWithSilverWings · 30/03/2018 19:31

I've had two to clear endo. Very straightforward procedure and no pain other than the trapped wind and shoulder pain which can be helped with drops of peppermint essence in boiled water.

Thanks ladies, I’m spending my time going on Endo forums and reading stories of the most horrendous cases and naturally have scared myself to death and driving everyone around me bonkers!!!!! I never thought I would find myself preparing for a lap when I was preparing for a baby! 😢

I've had a lap for endo as well and was genuinely surprised by pain levels afterwards. I was fine with just OTC pain meds and peppermint tea for the gas. Back on my feet the same day and back at work on light duties after 2 weeks (although should have stayed off a little longer). My lap was life changing for me, no longer hunched over in pain and no more self catheterization

I had one done for endo. As others have said, the shoulder pain was the worst part. I struggled to lie down for 48/72 hours so be prepared to prop yourself up with pillows. Also get lots of peppermint tea!
I was in pain for about a week and was terribly bloated and constipated (tmi!) so felt groggy and like I didn't want to move about. I think it was a side effect from the pain killers...
Unfortunately I got an infection and ended up going back to a&e and getting antibiotics but that seems to be uncommon. Generally it was ok.

Hey @Kate8989 , I've had two laps now for my endo and really it's not too bad. Recovery I had for both was 2-3 weeks and my second one was taking away a lot of endo. Just get lots of box sets and books lined up, even if u don't have endo just take your time to recover. If you do lots of stuff on those forums are worst case scenario it doesn't mean will be that way for you :-) mine is stage 3 and I have minimal pain and also been told it's not on my tubes or ovaries so they don't think it should affect my ability to conceive. Hope this helps! Try not to worry too much I know easier said than done!

As everyone else has said, the lap will be ok (def be ready with the peppermint tea though).

Try and get hold of this book:
Endometriosis: A Key to Healing Through Nutrition
Michael Vernon and Dian Shepperson Mills

It completely turned my life around.

Kate8989 · 31/03/2018 07:36

Thanks ladies for all your advice, I need to stop Googling things as it’s making me a lot worse. I have convinced myself I have the worst form of Endo even though it hasn’t been diagnosed yet 😳. I just want to feel myself again and I suppose if they do/don’t find anything then it’s a step in the right direction..... I can’t keep living in limbo as I am at the moment.
I have seen lots about the “Endo diet” and will try and follow it. At the moment I just feel like eating shit because of how I feel. After the lap I will try and turn my life around food wise. I just hate the not knowing what’s wrong with me and I don’t want to wake up in the morning x

When I say I’ve scared myself stupid..... I’ve convinced my little brain I’ll have to have a hysterectomy then I won’t be able to have children. My mind literally had wandered that much HELP PLEASE X

I went into it the same way and scared myself silly. Mine really wasn't bad at all. They remove a teeny patch of tissue and said the main problem looked to be my bowel. If you can, I'd try the diet to see if it helps. I was having a huge about of abdomen pain but it's been mostly food related issues. I'm not saying it'll be the same for you, but I felt like a different person when I started removing certain foods from my diet and you should quickly know whether this is causing issues for you.

Kate8989 · 31/03/2018 13:04

i think once I’ve had the lap and have more answers then I will probaly focus on my
diet. I think because I’m getting pain which has come on really suddenly I’m worried I have the worst form. But I understand pain with endometriosis isn’t always in sync with the amount you have. My gynaecologist said you can have loads but no pain so
I have to remind myself of that. I’m just so scared. I don’t enjoy my life anymore. I’m waiting for pains and I don’t like going to the toilet anymore as that can give me some pain. I’m going to make myself worse I just know it x
