I'm not ttc but using opks and bbt for contraception.

I start testing twice a day from cd9, usually get a positive on cd11/12 and cycles 23-27 days.

Today is cd11 and here is the test I've just done. Definitely negative. Can anyone with the knowhow tell me how imminent ovulation is? It's really unlike me to have such a negative result at cd11.

Thanks.

It's literally impossible to say.

What Kate said. Plus it's not a very reliable indicator anyway – you can be fertile before an OPK shows positive and still fertile after. Or it can be a surge with no ovulation and you ovulate a few days later, etc... CM is probably a better indication for these purposes.

I used these religiously so would class myself as a pro! There very usually is not a gradual darkening as you approach ovulation. I kept all mine for the first month to try and spot a pattern but honestly it would be barely there the day before ovulation and then glaringly dark the very next day. You know then that you are ovulating. I would have a positive result for two days then it would be back to normal. How dark the line is on your non fertile days will most likely depend on how hydrated you are.

There will be no mistaking a positive result.

Don't forget that you can ovulate early and sperm can live in the fallopian tubes for up to 5 days.

Well 12hrs later I think it's darker. Still negative on the digital though

Honestly, there likely is no pattern whatsoever. Some days it will be a little lighter, some days it will be a little darker. It means nothing. They do not get gradually darker as ovulation approaches!

OPKs are a yes/no question. They are not like pregnancy tests. LH spikes immediately before ovulation. It's not like HCG which gradually increases as the pregnancy goes on.

Thanks. I never for a positive last month but had a temp increase.
