Hi all,

Really new to all of this and have only just started trying to conceive... think I'm only about 7dpo according to my app but I'm not sure what I'm meant to be looking out for in this 2WW or if there is anything to be looking out for... 😂

All I know is that I went shopping with my mum today and all I kept doing was gagging every time I smelt someone's perfume/aftershave when they walked near me. I've been having hot flushes all the time. My nipples feel sore and I keep getting weird cramps near my ovaries... I've gone off food, but this could be down to a sore throat and runny nose which seemed to have appeared out of nowhere these last couple of days 😷

Would appreciate any input from anyone who's experienced or is experiencing anything similar to me! Maybe I'm just over thinking but I just feel different if that makes sense 🤔🤦🏻‍♀️

Sending lots of baby dust to everyone who is trying 👶🏻🤰🏻😘

This happens to everyone when starting ttc. It’s totally normal and the symptoms you’re having are progesterone related. Your body is adjusting and you’ll find you will have lots of weird pregnancy-type symptoms during your tww but don’t bother overthinking them, it’s a waste of energy and becomes very stressful which isn’t great when ttc. Good luck

Bubblegum, can you explain this? Is there a surge of progesterone when you decide to ttc, or something?

SunshineAndRainbows6 · 23/03/2018 18:07

Thanks @Bubblegum89!

I did keep thinking maybe I'm overthinking haha! 😂

When you decide to start ttc, that generally means coming off hormonal birth control. When your body is on artificial hormones, you won’t get those progesterone-related symptoms. I’ve been ttc for 18 months. Not once did I have a single symptom whilst on birth control. In the past 18 months, I’ve had every single symptom in every kind of form you can imagine. I’ve not been pregnant any of those times. Also when you are actively ttc, symptoms often become psychosomatic. You’d be surprised how well your brain can trick your body into thinking you’ve got certain symptoms purely because they’re on your mind.

Bubblegum89 · 23/03/2018 18:13

sunshine honestly, there’s not a single person who starts ttc and doesn’t overthink symptoms. It’s a cruel joke that progesterone mimics pregnancy symptoms. Hopefully you won’t be trying too long but if you are, eventually you’ll realise that your body does what it wants and there’s no rhyme nor reason lol. Before ttc, I’d only had sore boobs twice in my life, both times were when I was about 4 weeks pregnant (both times I was on the pill) Since ttc, I’ve had sore boobs almost every month and not been pregnant. That’s why it’s best not to overthink, you can build your hopes up too much and the disappointment when your period shows up is 100 times worse

Don't forget that when you're not trying you don't even think about the luteal phase. As soon as you are trying you notice every little symptom.

Karigan1 · 23/03/2018 18:16

I second what bubblegum says but also if you have recently stopped the pill the withdrawal does cause what can only be described as fake pregnancy symptoms. My boobs grew massive, I was actually being sick and all sorts. I have a theory it’s your body reacting to the progesterone rising

SunshineAndRainbows6 · 23/03/2018 18:16

Thanks for your messages @Bubblegum, hopefully we both have sticky beans soon! Sending lots of babydust your way 👶🏻 I'll keep you posted on how I get on! Will try and put it all out of my mind if that's even possible 🤦🏻‍♀️

Plus 7dpo should be your highest progesterone point if you aren’t pregnant. If you’re still getting it 7 days later it may be the progesterone stayed high because you’re pregnant.

Hey ladies,

I came off the mini pill at the start of Dec and like you said had every symptom under the sun... we have been using condoms since to let my body get back in the swing of things and I have now had two 30 day cycles 😁 We were oringally going to hold off a little more but one thing led to another as it does and now here I am 😂

Ah! Well of course! That makes sense, but was never a factor for me as I was never on hormonal contraception! Hence why it didn't cross my mind.

Absolutely got the symptom spotting though, and psychosomatic ones. Good luck! Flowers
