Can we talk about the Morning After Pill (I admit it, I’m panicking...)

Ok, so, my DH and I haven’t decided if we’ll add to our family. Our DS is 18 months so if we did expand our brood we’ve agreed we would do it soon. However, we had a slip last week and my DH said he’d be more comfortable if I took the morning after pill until we’d had more time to consider it. I was OK with that and took it approximately 24 hours later.

Since then I’ve had increasingly sore boobs, I’m knackered, I keep getting waves of nausea (I was really, really sick with DS). So I guess what I’m asking is, have other people had these issues on the MAP or do I just need to wait and see if I’m pregnant (which seems at least possible at this point given how I feel)?

Any experiences people feel able to share would be great. Thanks for reading.

@Prembabymum I see maybe the faintest line there but not sure it has colour. Maybe retest tomorrow. Was this with FMU?

Prembabymum · 27/03/2018 16:09

No, it was just now. I'll try tomorrow morning thanks!

OK well the last time I took it, I ended up with an ectopic pregnancy and a ruptured Fallopian tube. It was the first time I'd been pregnant but I kind of knew I was even though I'd taken the pill as I felt queasy and my breasts were tender and swollen. So it did kind of work even if it was all a bit dramatic. That was a long time ago, but I do think the MAP caused the ectopic.

I took one this afternoon and it was negative too, but I def ‘feel’ pregnant, if that makes sense. Right, no more! No More testing until Monday 😬

Well I'm out; at came! Early too!!

Parentingissotough · 27/03/2018 21:57

Well, I’m glad it’s one less thing on your mind. Hopefully mine will turn up soon but if not I’ll let you know! Really hope the LO feels better soon. It’s so tough when they’re poorly. They don’t sleep and I find even when mine does, I can’t because I’m worrying. Fingers crossed he’s better soon. Hope you’re ok with the result @prembabymum Wine

Thank you @parentingissotough we've been at a and e for 2 nights and tonight had to get an ambulance out (He has a mega fever and had gone all floppy), because he was so early they don't take any chances! He's ok though. It was really scary and we are all exhausted so I think the stress may have played a part too! Let us know the outcome for you too.

Parentingissotough · 28/03/2018 07:02

Oh @prembabymum I’m so sorry, that’s awful. I hope you’re getting chance to get some sleep and that you’ve got plenty of support. What a horrible time for you all. Thinking of you.

Any news @parentingissotough ? X

Parentingissotough · 31/03/2018 23:08

Hey @prembabymum! I’ve had some very light bleeding today - not like usual period at all, but sure it’ll settle down. As my DS is on vacation from sleeping - 6 hours / 24 - I’m kind of glad for now, but not sure if it means we’re done now. Made me feel scared, anxious, terrified, happy, pleased and excited in just two weeks of not knowing. How is your little one? Really hope things are better xxx

Keep me updated @parentingissotough sounds like your name rings true at the moment! He's on the mend but I won't lie, it's been a very very scary week! A and e four nights in a row, and in an ambulance once! He wasn't breathing well, had a temp of 39.9 degrees, floppy, mottled skin, vomiting, off his food and fluid, constant crying; I was terrified of sepsis or meningitis! He's getting better though and I've not come down with what seems to be the same virus, which is weirdly reassuring! He's still not taking bottles or fluids properly but he is eating now thankfully! I'm really glad I wasn't pregnant in the end; don't think I could have handled the additional stress this week tbh! Let me know how you get on please and i hope you and your lo get some sleep x
