I've not actually taken a test yet, but I was wondering if you lovely ladies could give me guidance on if I need to take one!

I'm on the nexplanon implant and this "ran out" in February this year. I'm still waiting to get in to the doctors to get it changed. Since then me and my husband have only had unprotected sex once, right at the beginning of feb.

I've had a period in March all be it a week late and also only going on for 3 days (one medium, 2 light) rather than the normal 7.

I've been feeling lightheaded, headachy, dizzy quite a few times, I feel so much more tired than usual. And sometimes feel a bit nauseous. I need to pee more often. I thought that I just had a cold however Ive got the symptoms of a cold but without the blocked nose.

I've been googling early signs of pregnancy and the things I've listed above do come up, but then my boobs don't feel sore, and I'm not actually being sick and my period came?

I'm so confused and actually really scared to take a test as both me and my Dh don't want children at the moment as it's not the right time, house and financially wise.

What do you all think? Please please help me put my mind to rest

If you had unprotected sex then yes, you could be pregnant. Most likely though, is that because your implant is no longer working, your body isn’t being pumped full of artificial hormones and is attempting to readjust itself. Same as coming off contraception, when your body has to go back to regulating its own hormones, you will experience a lot of weird symptoms that mimic pregnancy ones. The fact you have had your period (even if slightly shorter which in itself is something that happens a lot when the body is getting back to normal) is a good sign that you aren’t pregnant. I’d advise using condoms until you have had your implant changed if you don’t want to get pregnant as it does only take one time

Hi without realising it my implant run out for 5 months!! (Was planning on coming off it anyway) I didn’t get pregnant until after they took it out and then got pregnant straight away. I know the timelines are there for a reason but I think it’s likely to last a tad longer rather than not IMO. I would be really surprised if you got pregnant on the month it expired. Hope all works out okay for you x

You could be, but I thinks it more likely a hormonal reaction to coming off your implant. When I came off the pill a few years ago I had a crazy few months of late periods, heavy and painful periods, one month of no period at all.

Thank you for your responses so far ladies.

I did think to myself it would be such a slim chance! But you never know. I'll see how things go, see if any of these symptoms get worse and then do the dreaded test!
