Oh my. Of course you’re worried you must be absolutely frantic.

It’s not an absolute definite that damage has been done - some women do go on to have physically healthy babies. It seems that the physical abnormality rate is 18-28% and 30-60% of physically normal births have some neurological issues.

I couldn’t find any data on very early exposure vs a few weeks but it is a risk - the usual recommendations are to wait over a month before Ttc.

You were using appropriate contraception and this is not your fault - please make an appt with your doc to discuss your options. There is quite a high spontaneous abortion rate with exposure as well.

Gentle handhold from here - this must be a huge shock for you.

Anatide thank you Thanks

I don't suppose anyone could help with dates, I had my last period 26th January and I had a positive ovulation test around the 16th February (I was advised to have a secondary contraception back-up and this is my method) along with the pill.

I have a average cycle of around 41 days.

My head is a mess, it's not the right time. Please could someone help? Sad

You go by the date of your last period

SunshineSmellsLikeFlowers · 19/03/2018 15:52

I know but that's not realistic gestational date wise, I haven't been pregnant since 26th January Sad

I typed into the nhs due date calculator and this is what came up based on the info u gave

Someone please confirm ASAP
choccybiscuit · 19/03/2018 15:54

Sounds like you were due on beginning of March. So you may be between 6-7 weeks pregnant approx.

choccybiscuit · 19/03/2018 15:56

Maybe I worked it out wrong then Grin

Anatidae · 19/03/2018 16:24

Flowers a very difficult situation - it’s absolutely not your fault.

What usually happens in situations like this is that you would counselled by an appropriate team about whether to continue the pregnancy or not.
If you continue they will offer a very thorough anatomy scan at 19-20 weeks. That only picks up physical issues, neurological issues - which are very prevalent would not show. It’s not 100% that the foetus would be affected but it is

I’m sorry this isn’t more positive. Again it’s absolutely not your fault - no contraception, even doubled up, is 100%.

SaturdaySauv · 19/03/2018 17:32

The pill regulates cycles to 28 days and prevents ovulation so you shouldn’t need to track the time ovulation would normally happen (contraception free) and opks shouldn’t be positive at any stage.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 19/03/2018 17:39

You shouldn't ovulate at all on the pill and it should be breakthrough bleeding rather than a proper period so at the same point every month.

Anatidae · 19/03/2018 18:30

First thing you need to do is confirm - so GP, blood test(s)
Take care of yourself.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 19/03/2018 20:52

OP, I don't want to worry you but my dermatologist wouldn't prescribe me roaccutane unless I promised to use condoms AND the pill.

You need to speak to them ASAP as it's a class X drug in pregnancy.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 19/03/2018 20:56

and I had a positive ovulation test around the 16th February (I was advised to have a secondary contraception back-up and this is my method) along with the pill.

Also think PP had pointed this out but the pill stops you ovulating so how are you getting positive OPKs on the pill?

lolacola13 · 19/03/2018 23:35

I was on roaccutane two years ago and it's nhs protocol to be on the pill or coil and another additional method of contraceptive like condoms or femidoms and have monthly preg tests before they released my next four weeks of drugs . U are advised to not try for a baby for 6/12 months after ur last dose of drug and have to stay on the pill for a month after u complete too. Wonderful drug for the skin it changed my life but it's so so so powerful they don't even keep it in a chemist has to be hospital pharmacy. Just thought I'd give the info I know about it. I have read stories of women falling pregnant and having perfectly healthy babies but the general advise is to not continue with the pregnancy . I'm so sorry to even rule those words on this forum . Biggest hugs and love to u my sweets! Xoxoxox

cockupparent · 19/03/2018 23:45

You poor thing. Yes that's definitely 100% pregnant. I would take the day off work tomorrow and see your GP urgently.

You didn't plan this, this has happened to you. Take your time and seek medical advice before any firm decision making Thanks

How are you getting on OP? Hope you're ok.
