Has anyone ever felt early pg symptoms day after conception (and later found they were pg)?

Ovulated yesterday and today feel like I've been hit like a bus (EXHAUSTED), is it possible I could feel pg if I was?

No. It's just progesterone. Doesn't mean you won't get pregnant, just means you would have felt this regardless.

MakeLemonade · 18/03/2018 21:25

Both times I conceived I felt really ill 48 hours after ovulation, nausea, sick and light-headed. Could of course be a coincidence but I’ve never had it as part of my monthly cycle before.

Fannyfanakerpants · 18/03/2018 21:29

I definetly knew with my dd. Didn't with either ds but with my dd, from day 1, I was exhausted, ached and the smell of tea made me feel sick.

CauliflowerBalti · 18/03/2018 21:32

I knew 48 hours after. I craved orange juice in a big way, and felt queasy and so so tired.

MynameisJune · 18/03/2018 21:35

It’s impossible, if the egg has been fertilised then it is still travelling down the Fallopian tube at 24-48hrs after ovulation. The amount of HCG produced at that point is infintismal and would not be enough to create changes.

Anyone who got ‘symptoms’ they were either psychosomatic or progesterone and they would have got them anyway. Don’t underestimate the subconscious mind and it’s ability to trick your own body.

Bubblegum89 · 18/03/2018 22:26

You can’t have pregnancy symptoms the day after conception. It’s biologically impossible. It takes up to a week (in most circumstances) or longer for a fertilised egg to implant into the uterus and so you aren’t even technically pregnant until then. Any symptoms you experience in your tww are progesterone related. Doesn’t mean you won’t end up being pregnant but the symptoms aren’t related. If you do end up pregnant, you will get pregnancy symptoms from around 4-5 weeks. In the meantime, it’s purely progesterone or even a case of your mind playing tricks on you. People who say they had symptoms the day after conception or in their tww and turned out to be pregnant would have had those same symptoms even if they’d ended up not being pregnant.

I'm not being funny but the (opened yesterday, in date) milk doesn't taste right this morning...

OP posts:
Bubblegum89 · 19/03/2018 08:59

Honestly, mammyoftwo you’re really overthinking this. Milk tasting different isn’t a sign you’re pregnant. You’d be surprised how easy it is for your mind to trick you into believing you are having weird symptoms. At 1-2dpo, your body wouldn’t produce enough HCG to even register you had conceived yet. You need to chill out a bit or you’ll drive yourself up the wall. It’s physically, scientifically impossible to be feeling pregnancy symptoms at this point.

At the moment, there is no way for your body to know if conception has happened or not - the morula (it isn't even a blastocyst at this stage) is floating in your body, not attached to anything. Like in IVF when the eggs are hatched in a Petrie dish.

You're about as pregnant as a Petrie dish.

Once it attaches, your body recognises the embryo and starts to grow.

mammyoftwo · 19/03/2018 19:05

"as pregnant as a Petrie dish" GrinGrinGrinGrin

......time will tell! Will let you know in a couple of weeks!

Fingers crossed! It's good you're getting ovulation symptoms though - means you've deffo ovulated

mammyoftwo · 20/03/2018 16:25

I know, I know, I know what Bubblegum and nimble are going to say.......... but I could swear in a court of law I felt implantation today!

OP posts:
NimbleKnitter · 20/03/2018 16:36

Yup - still too soon! Again - thinking of IVF, it's usually a day 5 transfer. This is because the fertilised egg needs that long to develop, in order to implant.

I've got to admire your optimism, and I really hope this is your month - but scientifically - it's too soon for implantation.

But please do let us know if I'm wrong! You should get a positive test a day or two after implantation

Bubblegum89 · 20/03/2018 16:50

Lol okay. You ARE overthinking way too much. Trust me, I’ve been there. But unfortunately biological science isn’t arguable. The things you’re saying are happening cannot happen in the time frame you’re describing, biologically speaking. You might have conceived but at this point, your body won’t know it and you certainly won’t know it. Strange tastes, twinges and feeling a bit rough are all extremely common symptoms of elevated progesterone levels.

If you’ve conceived, you’ll implant usually at 7dpo. I know you won’t, but please just put this to the back of your mind for now. When you overthink every tiny detail, it builds you up for what could be a much bigger fall if you turn out to not be pregnant. Which is a possibility.

Marriageoftrueminds · 20/03/2018 18:40

Hmmm I’m on the fence about this one. On the one hand I totally get that progrsterone etc can mimic early pregnancy symptoms and accepted science is that you wouldn’t have any symptoms for ages after conception... on the other hand I’ve been pregnant twice (once with an ectopic and once with this, hopefully healthy, pregnancy in which I’m at 12 weeks) and both times I have felt symptoms I’ve never had before, around 5 days after conception - mainly absolutely dog-tired, off food I normally love, and incredibly sore nipples. I’ve never had those symptoms at be same stage of my cycle when I’ve not been pregnant. I do understand it may be coincidence but I don’t think it was ‘wishful thinking’ as I’d been ttc 24 unsuccessful months before my two bfp’s and had thought wishfully every month! So I dunno. Good luck either way!

silkpyjamasallday · 20/03/2018 18:49

Well we conceived DD on Boxing Day, I was puking on New Year’s Day having not had a drop to drink or anything unusual to eat and continued vomiting 10+ times a day for the next 40 weeks. I only took a pregnancy test because I was concerned that I’d had a ‘stomach bug’ for over 3 weeks and the test confirmed I was pg. So I didn’t have symptoms after a day, but my sickness set in very quickly.

Ivebeenaroundtheblock · 20/03/2018 18:54

i knew all three times. the morning after, right away.
what ever that little chemical reaction to the sperm and egg meeting is, my body senses it right away.

NimbleKnitter · 20/03/2018 19:25

Scientifically impossible the day after.

Literally impossible

ArizonaLeone · 20/03/2018 19:28

I felt extremely nauseous and tired about 3/4 days after which then eased off after a couple of weeks. Not necessarily pregnancy hormone related however your body is still going through change so I put this down to early symptoms due to my body adjusting/progesterone. Now 6 weeks along and starting to feel nauseous again.

SoozC · 20/03/2018 19:31

I was convinced I was preggers last cycle, really felt I was.

I wasn't.

NimbleKnitter · 20/03/2018 19:34

I puked every month when I ovulated, and often passed out in the shower.

I was pregnant only one of those times (positive test at 9dpo)

Progesterone is what causes most 'pregnancy' symptoms, and progesterone rises sharply after ovulation. It continues to rise during early pregnancy, so 'symptoms' only mean ovulation.

If symptoms continue or get stronger over the next 10 days, that's a pretty good sign

AdoraBell · 20/03/2018 19:40

I felt different. I still can’t explain what that means, but something had changed.

DramaAlpaca · 20/03/2018 19:48

I knew the morning after with DC2. I have no idea how I knew, I just did.

NimbleKnitter · 20/03/2018 19:48

It's very possible that at 1dpo sperm hasn't even met egg yet.

The mind is a complicated place and it can play tricks on you.
