Blood test shows low progesterone, what next?

GP has said that blood tests show my progesterone results are low, probably meaning that I'm not ovulating. She has said that clomid might be prescribed to help with this, but she needs to refer me to the consultant for that to happen (which could take months).

Has anyone else had clomid described by the GP? Or seen a consultant privately to speed up the process?

Is there anything else I could do to improve my progesterone levels?

Would be interested to hear other people's experiences.

It's not just a case of improving your progesterone levels if there is the suspicion that lack of ovulation is the cause.

The blood test done needs to be taken 7 days before you af is due, which is day 21 of a 28 day cycle. It would be cd 24 of a 31 day cycle. Did that happen?

I'm currently on my 6th cycle of clomid. It took a year and a half of ttc and tests before my first clomid cycle, which was prescribed by my consultant gynaecologist.

Everything moves at a glacial pace, in part because certain things have to happen at certain cycle points, which take about a month to come around!

Ttc 2 years. I used to have more patience...

Thank you, yes I had two blood tests trying to target the day that was 7 days before AF and got there on the second try. I've also had an internal ultrasound scan (over a month ago) but still haven't had the results through on that. So I agree with the glacial pace!

Do you mind me asking, with the clomid have you found that there have been any side effects?

My GP prescribed me clomid but that was back in 2013 and from what I've read it's quite unusual for a GP to do it. It did mean I got pregnant with DS1 but I wasn't given any monitoring at all which looking back seems quite risky. It also meant that my PCOS wasn't diagnosed until I was TTC DS2.
The GP prescribed me 3 cycles of it. Then I went back towards the end of the 3rd cycle and was given a prescription for 3 more cycles and she started the referral process to the fertility clinic. I ended up pregnant on that 3rd cycle though.

For me, lack of pregnancy has been a side effect. But that was always a problem...

Troubled sleep and some hot flashes while I'm taking it, and then mega raging pms. I've started antidepressants to try to keep things together.
